When I hear leftists drone on about the Founding Fathers being ‘55 white men. rich slave-owners,
bond-holders, merchants, land speculators. wealthy aristocrats. the ruling
class’, it makes my blood boil. It also
shows the level of indoctrination they received during their K-12 stint in the
public school system. Some of the ‘slaves’ were indentured servants
who gave up at least 5 to 7 years of their lives to companies in England just
to get their passage paid to the ‘new world’. Reading further should make the leftist feel much better about the Founding Fathers… remember the phrase “….Our live, our fortunes, our sacred honor”?
When I consider what today people call "dedication to a cause" I am amazed at how little most people are really willing to give up to stand for what they
"believe in". Our founding fathers, the men and women that helped form the foundations of this great country, gave up everything, put everything on the line, their money, their property, and even the lives of themselves and their families for what they believed in. It is truly amazing what can and will be accomplished with that kind of dedication. The only ones comparable in these times that are willing to give that much sacrafice for their country is our brave soldiers in the military. I know that in other areas of the world, those type of men and women are still fighting for the freedom they deserve as well. Following is a few facts about the signers of the Declaration of Indepencence of the United States of America and what sacrifices they made for the cause they believed in!
Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence ? Five signers were captured by the British as traitors,and tortured before they died.
Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.
Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another
had two sons captured.
Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.
They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.
What kind of men were they?
Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.
Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners;men
of means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence
knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.
Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader,saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay
his debts, and died in rags.
Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and
poverty was his reward.
Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton,
Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.
At the battle of Yorktown , Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British
General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.
Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed.
The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.
So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently
thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid. Remember: freedom is never free!
I hope you will show your support by sending this to as many people as you can, please. It's time we get the word out that patriotism is NOT a sin, and the Fourth of July has more to it than beer, picnics, and baseball games.
As we used to say in the Vietnam era, "All gave some, some gave all."

actually, I have an old 200 watt kenwood amp and a pair of 1983 model Bose 501 series 3 speakers...amp connected to the line out jack of my sound card and 12 awg wires running to the back deck. so (as you can imagine), I'm good...Happy 4th, Ari.

Military Fireworks Show Cut, Even Though Local Company Volunteered To Do It For Free
The Zambelli Family has done the fireworks at Camp Lejeune before, and this year, after hearing they were cancelled due to federal money problems, they promised to do them for free.
The military still said no, citing additional costs besides the fireworks.
Dr. George Zambelli says the military told them,“there’s a lot of costs to putting on a function like that. The funds just weren’t available. They back and said it couldn’t be done.”
