McVeigh in Prison

Definition: PATSY: A patsy is someone set up to take the fall for a crime in someone else's place.
Everyone knows the story of McVeigh and how he was arrested and put into prison and put to death
(was he really?) for the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, OK in 1995.
But do you know the 'whole' story?
Not by a long shot.

I believe that even McVeigh didn't know the whole story.

If there was anyone/body that was "DUMBER

The loon's comment "do NOT have the mental capacity to come UP with an "original" is laughable since that fits her more than her circus clowns hanging on her every rant. Who else goes to other sites to copy other people's comments and then there's the gloom and doom right wingnutdrama (wnd) alexjones, infowars jesse ventura conspiracy sites to get all her "facts". hahahaha

You think old Speakup sock is done trying to be the original wtf? Anyone that has been here since 2010 with the original topix being discussed can spot that CON with the first sentence of his nonsense. What a joke they all are.

GINNI THOMAS: Six big problems with the immigration bill from someone who has actually read it

Former New York lieutenant governor Betsy McCaughey bets “you can’t find five members of Congress who have read” the Senate “Gang of Eight” immigration bill.

The former Democrat is experienced at reading large bills the Congress seems inclined to pass without reading, such as Obamacare. She tabs them, underlines them and tries to see the big picture of what will happen if the provisions of the bill are implemented.

NSA keeps your data for a long time, says Snowden

If I target, for example, an email address, for example, under FAA 702 [The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Amendments, Section 702], and that email address sent something to you, Joe America, the analyst gets it,” Snowden said.

“‘All of it: IPs, raw data, content, headers, attachments, everything. And it gets saved for a very long time — and can be extended further with waivers rather than warrants,” he said.

Social Conservatives Still Control the GOP

Despite worries that their focus on abortion and gay marriage is a liability for Republicans, they're as well-organized, vigilant, and powerful as ever.

**Ever since Republicans got clobbered in the last election, some have suggested they dial back some of their hard stances in the culture war. The College Republicans, for example, commissioned a study that concluded that young voters see the party as fusty and old-fashioned, and urged it to get with the times on issues such as gay marriage.

Cheney says NSA monitoring could have prevented 9/11

The United States might have been able to prevent the deadly Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington had controversial National Security Agency surveillance practices been in place at the time, former Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday.

The former No. 2 in the Bush administration defended the NSA's ability to monitor phone and email data, and labeled as a "traitor" the analyst who has admitted to having leaked details about the classified program.

HAHA, he could of just listen to all the warnings sent their way prior to 9/11 too. I am sure that if the truth were known, they did worse even before the Patriot Act.

Supreme Court strikes down Arizona law requiring proof of citizenship to vote

The Supreme Court on Monday struck down an Arizona law that requires people to submit proof of citizenship when they register to vote.

The vote was 7-2. Justice Antonin Scalia, writing for the majority, said that a 1993 federal law known as the Motor Voter Act takes precedence over the Arizona law because of its requirement that states “accept and use” the federal voter registration form.

Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, two members of the court’s conservative wing, dissented.

Only a handful of states have similar laws, which the states say are meant to reduce voter fraud. Civil rights groups said the Arizona law was an effort to discourage voting by legal immigrants, and they worried that more states would have followed if the Supreme Court had upheld it.
Groups opposed to the Arizona law said that the court had blocked an attempt at voter suppression.

The USA PATRIOT Act Was Planned Before 9/11
by Jennifer Van Bergen
Truthout.org
20 May, 2002

Many people do not know that the USA PATRIOT Act was already written and ready to go long before September 11th. Recent criticism of Bush's admission that he had received warnings only weeks before September 11th has made it more important to understand the origins of the USAPA.

Dick Cheney came out on Thursday with the statement that Democratic criticism of Bush's handling of pre-Sept. 11 terror warnings was "thoroughly irresponsible." Cheney added an ominous remark to his "Democratic friends ... that they need to be very cautious not to seek political advantage by making incendiary suggestions."

House Minority leader Dick Gephardt said: "Our nation is not well served when the charge of 'partisan politics' is leveled at those who simply seek information that the American people need and deserve to know."

October 2-4, 2001: Senators Daschle and Leahy Raise Concerns about Newly Introduced Patriot Act
The “anti-terrorism” Patriot Act is introduced in Congress on October 2, 2001 (see October 2, 2001), but it is not well received by all.[US CONGRESS, 10/2/2001] One day later, Senate Majority Leader and future anthrax target Tom Daschle (D-SD) says he doubts the Senate will take up this bill in the one week timetable the administration wants. As head of the Senate, Daschle has great power to block or slow passage of the bill. Attorney General John Ashcroft accuses Senate Democrats of dragging their feet.[WASHINGTON POST, 10/3/2001]

October 24, 2001: House and Senate Pass Patriot Act Without Reading It
The House of Representatives passes the final version of the Patriot Act and other previously unpopular Bush administration projects: Alaska oil drilling,$25 billion in tax cuts for corporations, taps into Social Security funds, and cuts in education.[CNN, 10/25/2001] Republican Congressman Ron Paul states:“It’s my understanding the bill wasn’t printed before the vote—at least I couldn’t get it. They played all kinds of games, kept the House in session all night, and it was a very complicated bill. Maybe a handful of staffers actually read it, but the bill definitely was not available to members before the vote.” It is later found that only two copies of the bill were made available in the hours before its passage, and most House members admit they voted for the act without actually reading it first.[INSIGHT, 11/9/2001] Two days later, the Senate will pass the final version of the Patriot Act. Anthrax targets Senators Tom Daschle and Patrick Leahy (see October 15, 2001) now support the bill. President Bush signs it into law the same day (see October 26, 2001).[FOX NEWS, 10/26/2001]
