I think the GOP just played into Obama's hand. This is all about 2014. Every Republican who voted against this is going to have Willie Horton style ads running that will say, Senator (R) voted to make sure that criminals can continue to buy guns. That will be far more devastating a line of attack than the GOP would have been able to make if it had passed.
The event will be on the minds of clear thinking people, from now until the 2014 election

Feds: Mississippi man arrested in ricin scare
(CNN)-- An arrest has been made in connection with possibly contaminated letters sent to President Obama and Sen. Roger Wicker, the Department of Justice said Wednesday.
Paul Kevin Curtis was arrested by the FBI at his home in Corinth, Mississippi, the department said in a statement.
Discovered Tuesday, the letters were addressed to Wicker, a Mississippi Republican, and to Obama. The justice department release said a third letter was sent to a Mississippi justice official.
The letters to Wicker and Obama were stopped at a government mail-screening facility after initial tests indicated the presence of the deadly poison ricin.
Letter to Obama tests positive for ricin
Because initial tests can be "inconsistent," the envelopes have been sent off for additional tests, an FBI statement said. The FBI does not expect to receive results from the tests until Thursday, federal law enforcement sources told CNN.
The letters read: "To see a wrong and not expose it, is to become a silent partner to its continuance."
They were signed "I am KC and I approve this message," a source said.

In his fifth term now, McConnell has an approval rating in Kentucky of 36 percent. Silent but sullen, most of his own party doesn't really like him. The state's Democrats, who still control the governorship and the lower house, positively despise the man.

4 million?? Obviously the NRA isn't majority, there are more than 10 million moms and dads pissed off at republicans for not considering children's safety before their own wallets!
Didn't know this until a couple of months ago. The NRA membership count includes ALL those that have lifetime membership. Those that have died are still on the rolls. The real number of members is not known or made public. But it is less by far than they claim.
