You know the worst school disaster in US history occurred in Bath, MI. 38 killed in a school bombing by a white guy that talked the same shit as you do. I figured all your kind was gone from there by now.

Naturally you had to pick one line of my post - totally ignoring the fact that President Clinton felt the need for school officials to have some sort of weapon. And then you pick out "guns of their choice" and make reference to the fact that I meant something relative to a 1863 bronze 6# Civil War cannon. When I said guns of our choice, I was thinking in terms of hand guns, of which there are many to choose from if you've been in any gun shops recently.
And hopefully you understand that these small weapons ( with the right to carry ) are not given out randomly to just anyone who wants them. And if so it's not legal. I am referring to "guns of their choice" after they have passed rigid testing, rigid background checks and deserve the legal right to carry.
For those who buy guns illegally, you will always have that no matter how many laws you pass. IMO, it is the right of the citizens of this country to protect themselves from that ilk!
I don't know how to make this any clearer so you will understand.
PS: This is not just a Republican thing. Many Democrats feel the same way, FYI.
You're absolutely right in my opinion. I am not a hard-core liberal by any stretch, but I'll admit to being left-leaning. I firmly believe in the right to bear arms for many of the same reasons your average right-winger does. A: We have a right to protect ourselves (especially our homes). How does that old saying go? "When seconds count, the police are MINUTES away". And B: I don't trust the government any more than a lot of the so-called "paranoid right-wing nuts". In recent times, I've seen our rights dwindle more and more (over the last 30 years especially). Most of the time it's under the guise of "public safety" (like the post 911 "Patriot" Act and the assault weapons ban that was based on public massacres). I do have to pose one question in regard to the public massacres though... What are WE doing as a society that is driving more and more people to these despicable acts? It seems to me like the heat has really been turned up in American society in regard to pressure to survive and succeed, yet little to nothing is really being offered in terms of coping skills for people who are buckling under this ever-increasing pressure. We live in a psychic pressure cooker, yet we have essentially NO mental health system in our country. There are mental health services available to some, but they require private insurance and are hence inaccessible to a lot of people. We live in a perfect storm for these types of outbursts. I expect to see a lot more of them as time goes on and population increases.

Bath Michigan.....home of "white boy".....

The Bath School disaster is the name given to three bombings in Bath Township, Michigan, on May 18, 1927, which killed 38 elementary school children, two teachers, four other adults and the bomber himself; at least 58 people were injured. Most of the victims were children in the second to sixth grades (711 years of age [1]) attending the Bath Consolidated School. Their deaths constitute the deadliest mass murder in a school in U.S. history and the fourth-deadliest massacre in U.S. history, behind the Oklahoma City bombing, the Mountain Meadows massacre and 9/11. The bomber was school board treasurer Andrew Kehoe, 55 who died in a car bomb he set off after he drove up to the school as the crowd gathered to rescue survivors from the burning school.

ROFL! I loved the "psychic" pressure cooker. I knew it was a typo but I loved it. You have some good points. 45 million Americans currently have mental illness. 11 million have serious mental illness. That being said even the vast majority of the serious group are not dangerous. Mental illness research funding is lousy and I hear that some insurances are lousy at covering it. There shouldn't be a stigma attached to it. It has gotten better but there still is.

Mental illness knows no color.

Normal, logical thinking, rational people get angry at times - and blow off stream. But we do not pick up a gun and go shoot someone just because.

The people who do, do this, are unbalanced and either emotionally or mentally challenged. It's they we must fear, but distinguishing who they are is the mystery. And because of these acts of terror, committed by the above mentioned - we are all suspect in the eyes of our government - and I think this is what we resent the most.

I guess I would pretty much agree with everything you said here and I'm no left-leaning liberal. But, I too agree that rights have dwindled over the past thirty years for any number of excuses under the guise of "public safety." But this is the reason for paranoia. It's hard to know who to trust anymore when you watch your government take away your right to live by your own choices instead of theirs - and I do mean - as long as it harms no one else or interferes with their choices or way of life.

Some times I wonder if the movies made today with all the killing, torture and realistic bloodshed has an affect on young impressionable minds. Some are convinced video games contribute to irrational or brutal behavior by desensitizing the young mind. But millions of kids play those games and realize it's just fantasy. It's the mentally unstable, IMO, that go over the cliff and act out the fantasy.

Like you, I also expect to see a lot more of this in the years to come.

Don't need funding to determine how many people have mental illness in this country, Nov 6th 2012 determined there were 63 million mentally impaired people in this country,

You can't. It's already played out just as he says, and he has the documentation to prove it.
