They do that 'don't let the one hand know what the other hand is doing' thing pretty well with their liberal followers.

I know you're watching OZ, in fact I 'was' going to comment on some of the posts from you on the other thread that I found interesting that really touched in how you care for our nation.....

But, I'm a little surprised you would tell me you think I'm an "idiot' with that Southern phrase of 'bless your heart'. If I wanted to convey that to someone I wouldn't beat around the bush about it, I'd just come right out & say it instead. Everyone has an opinion I guess.

Well, I didn't know if you knew or not. But that's a phrase known throughout the South to be t most insulting. Usually buried under a kind of sweet sounding rhetorical phrase. What it means is that the person you're saying it to could not be more of an imbecile if he wanted to.

It means they think you're An idiot but instead of telling you directly, it's shot at you indirectly & in this way a person excuses themselves for speaking badly about someone else.

It is a sort of righteous indignation, the judgmental piety somehow transmutes the fact that at it's heart is an insult. For example,, " Oh she shouldn't be wearing that type of slacks, bless her heart" or "Bless his heart, I can't believe he is dating that girl." "That child has a face only a mother could love, bless her heart." It's also a polite way to ridicule, insult the sensibilities of, point out the shortcomings of someone. It basically softens the blow of the insulting statement. And supposedly should make it more socially acceptable.

Even Romney used the phrase to insult Obama.

Well, I know now. I tell that to my American friends and people I use to work and no one ever said anything ...but, I'm glad E, you explained it to me. If I like someone, I would never say anything if I know it is going to hurt your feelings. I know better now...thanks!

Of the 33 nations the US has invaded since WWII ended which do you believe was to "Protect our Freedom" ? I always find it strange that the US has NEVER invaded a nation that has nuclear weapons. No wonder Iran wants them. It's their only protection against America.

Hey OZ, I knew Romney insulted obama with that "bless your heart" phrase. I had to look it up but here's Romney's jab at Barak::

In Iowa Romney said :"It is Free men & women That drive our economy. Freedom is what makes America work. And President Obama, "Bless His Heart", has tried to substitute government for Free people-and it has Not worked, and it will never work."

One writer says" Romney delivered one of the most brilliant juxtapositions They've ever witnessed: his own love of individual liberty versus Obama's love of big government."

Thought you'd like to read what he said.

Oh, and TIR just used the phrase against "himself" when he said in his post, "bless MY heart" !! Ha ha ha He was basically calling himself an idiot! Waaaaaaaahahahahahaha.......I agree Funny stuff!!!!
