Not this time they didn't , but they will. The two Smiths are wanting to give money back to Corbin. Wonder which school system they are really for. Makes you think maybe someone at Corbin helped to get those elected. Six hundred students would be how schools closing and how many would be let go? They sure aren't thinking of the betterment of Knox County students!

They are there for the kids and wha they said was they wanted a level playing field of giving whatever number of students Barbourville is given to be the same number Corbin is. Why do you care which system gets them? Knox won't either way or do you want to stop all kids from going to any other school system? I think the Smiths and Merida did a great job last night. They voted not to lift the hiring freeze which I m sure some can't stand because someone on the Board seems to want to be hired.

I Agree! What I seen of the meeting that was their main concern (making sure Corbin got as Bville did). Looks like Corbin got who they wanted in there to help them. Thanks ;)

Are you people actually saying by allowing all school systems to have a fair playing field is bad? You do know at the current time Knox county is in bottom 7% of state scores, has 3 focus schools (bad), and Knox central has been a persistent low achieving school for like 7 years. Our ACT scores are lower than any surrounding county and goes down routinely. I think you judges need to give some time to these new people to clean up what these old board members gave in to and put our schools in the dump along with the current administration.

Folks, give these New Board Memebers time! We all say time will tell so lets see,at the next Board meeting. Seems like Sam and Carla voted against the raise last time. So when these guys find out what is going on they will do what is right i am sure. They have got to stop the waste in every place possible, So don't though the baby out with the dishwater give them time. Rembember these guys come in with this mess, some of them will leave like leaves on a tree.

Im all for giving anyone that works in the school system a raise if the budget can support it,The previous board members never worried about giving anybody but their friends and themselves what they could get and then when they got voted out they tried to do all they could to make the biggest mess for the county and its children that they could, give these people a chance,Let them cut out all the wasteful spending and get the mess they were left with half way straightened out and then start talking about raises! Its like the old saying goes rome wasn't built in a day they have had one meeting they are not miracle workers!
