Back then yea they'd let anybody in! Most from that era didn't have much education.
That not entirely true. You had to be able to read ,write, and comprehend a lot. The Army was the only branch that you got drafted into during the Viet Nam era and you still had to have some brains. If you joined a certain branch then they had their own battery of tests that you had to pass to be accepted. Now you practically have to have a college education to even use the modern equipment.Even a ground pounder has to be able to know what his weapon is capable of and its limitations.

I didn't realize that about the Army being the only drafting branch during that era.

Yep, they would take just about anyone if they could pass the tests. Kind of like a practical applications test. Then there was the physical that you had to pass also. All the other branches had harder tests to see where you would fit in the best. The army just drafted you, then see if you fit anywhere that would benefit them. If you scored low then you were infantry (ground pounder). A lot of high school dropouts were drafted if they were 18 or over. The Marines would take a high school dropout, but you had to pass a harder test than the army. The Air Force required that you be a graduate at that time. They did take others during WW2 and Korea but they were slimlining after that. the navy would take dropouts but there again you had to pass harder tests than the army had. Now, you can't even get in the army unless you're a high school grad.

This guy on here claiming to be a vet. is a phoney looking for attention. He doesn't even answer simple questions that a veteran surely knows. More likely than not he's a bootcamp wash out that thinks he can fool people. He might have been drafted, but judging by his comments he didn't make it past the indoctrination. Probably delusional.

You are just as dumb as he is if you believe his bull. The draft board drafted for all branches of military this is one many facts he has wrong. Talk to an veteran from that era and will tell you the same.

More false facts. Fact draft board drafted for all military. Services. Fact all branches require same test to get in the military. Call an recruiter and they will tell you one administrator will give same test to all recruits for all branches at the same time.
Another lier.

This post just proves my point. I joined the Marines during the Viet Nam Conflict so you can't tell me that I'm wrong jerkwad. If and that's a big if, you ever talked to a recruiter and joined the service you would know that they are the biggest liars in the service. They will tell you anything and promise what they know they can't deliver. So that's how I know you are a phoney. You don't like being exposed, do you? I'm done with you trash head. People, don't fall for this guys Anti-American bullshyte story. Probably stole someones papers so the bank "wouldn't" notarize them. He could have went to his own bank or the court house and many other places to get it notarized.Instead he gets on Topix to complain like it would help. All it did was get him exposed. One more thing Mr. Phoney. We don't go around claiming that anybody owes us anything. We did it for our country, not hand outs.

The most unpopular war and you still insist that all the marines where volunteers during that time. And the Army had to draft. You as dumb thinking you can get everybody to believe that lie. The only phony is you.
Are you going to call veterans a lier especially all the marines that was drafted during the Vietnam era?

The only one expose is you. You keep Claiming you being in Vietnam, But not once have you stated what unit you was with, or what Division you was in. The only reason you didn't because you are the real phony.

You claiming not all marines was not given the same test. You failed to explain how the administrator Knew which person was a high school dropout and one that was not since there be approximately 80 to 90 taking the test at the same.
You cannot because you are the only phony.

Hey dodo just because you are a vet give you no right to dictate to a company how they run their business. So what if you are a vet so are millions of us and believe it or not we are not a superior species and everyone else just peons. You have been brainwashed into believing you are special. Got news for you, you are just like the rest of the folks out there, well not exactly you are not nearly as smart as most. Its a bank doing business for their customers not a place where you can just walk in and think they owe you something.

If you are a real vet then get a clue as what I am fully trying to accomplish. I take it that you still believe in the old ways of thinks being done. If the PNC bank had a company policy only notarize for blacks only would you still up hold that company policy? This is only one part. This bank has a policy to offer Notary only to its on customers for free. This part is fine, its the other parts thats need to be change. For one this bank needs to offer services for every one equally. Since I am not a customer of this bank any more I am not against it charge a small fee.
The only way bank can grow is to grow with the people and stop being prejudice to the people who is not a regular customer.
Furthermore This bank operates under the charter it being a public bank. This means it should service the public in whole.
Even furthermore this bank claims to support our troops. To support our troops is to be willing to notarize all documents all returning vets from war or peace time. This bank should not be able to claim it is supporting our troops if it will not help the returning vet.

It is wrong for any one claiming being a vet that support a bank that does not support you when you come home, and the bank claim it is supporting the troops.

This bank claiming to support our troops then they owe these troops that support. Yes they owe you and all the troops as long they claiming their support to us. If they do not then it is false advertising.
How can you support a bank thats says it is supporting our troops and when a vet ask for full support they show that vet the door.
It is you not to smart. You want to protect a bank thats not be exactly honest.
Will you define what "support our troops" mean if this does not include they are willing to help all veterans when they are home also?
Any other lie you want to tell?

Well after looking up info about the Vietnam War draft...Its SEEMS that the Navy and Air Force did not use the draft at ALL...The Army would hold the draft and the Marine recruiters would "cherry pick" the better draftees and pull them into the Marines, but this would be VERY few troops. I read some info from a Vietnam vet from California who was drafted in 1969 and he said that he was standing in line to get his phyical with 360 others when the Marines recruiter went throught the line and pulled out 5 (himself included)draftees and placed them into the Marines. Within the week he was at Paris Island. So to me, it looks like that you were only drafted into the Army but if you "had the look" of a Marine you where placed there instead. But as I researced this it looks like the "cherry picking" was used VERY little. That 99% of those drafted went in the Army. The Air Force and Navy had more than they could use because people where affraid that they would get drafted into the Army so they deceided to join those 2 branches thinking that they would have a lower chance of getting killed in combat.
