You seem to miss the point. Your attitude is useless to the tens of millions of americans that struggle with addiction daily. We're not talking about a handful of idiots that just happened to get addicted through darwinism. We're talking about people from all walks of society. We're talking about people with *actual* problems, problems that extend beyond what color dress they're going to wear to the dance.
You can play ostrich if you like, but it affects you nonetheless. I'm sure you've made your share of mistakes or are we to believe you're perfection in human form?
I mean, why bother with all those weight loss commercials. If people just wouldn't get fat, then they wouldn't need to lose weight. Why bother with tutoring in schools? If people weren't stupid, they wouldn't need it. Why bother with war? If we would just let tyrants get their way we wouldn't have to bother. Why have lifeguards? If people would just stay out of the water.. Why have cancer treatment? If people just ate their veggies.. Why have jails? If criminals would just stop commiting crimes..
You're arguing a fallacy. In fact, that's the most common form of fail I see on this forum. People argue from impossible positions about subjects that bewilder them.
That is the truth. I had a best friend that died from a oc overdose. Two days before that I got into a very bad car accident. And her name was Christina Tuttle. I think that god spared me for a reason. Do u go to na meetings. But anyways, I don't use anything but the symboxone. It has changed my life. I also have a cousin that is in jail and she is headed to prison because of drugs.

I have been on drugs but I started going to the symboxone clinic. And yes it is a drug I have been down the same road as u. But since I have been going to the symboxone clinic it has helped me alot. Symboxone take the craving away. It don't give u a buzz or anything. I go to manchester u go for 1 year u have to attend NA meetings. I did it because I did'nt want to be bad sick coming off. U can do it on your own too. Or go to a long term rehab. My cousin was made to go to the one in harlen. For a year and it is free she got to come home on the weekends. After she was there for 2 months. She is a different person they also gave her a job as a counselor.

Uh, one more thing, that isn't logic. Search wikipedia or dictionary dot com for "logical fallacy." You might actually learn something.
Oh wait, why bother, you're clueless to begin with. That IS the attitude and position you're supporting, right?
At least you felt self conscious enough to include a disclaimer for "those that are hooked." There's some humanity in you after all.
Do you eat sugar? That's a drug. Do you drink caffeine? That's a much more serious drug. Do you smoke or use other tobacco products? That's still a more serious drug. Do you refuse all prescriptions given to you by a doctor? Those are drugs too. Better lay off the antibiotics. ;)
I wander if it became law that dentist could not use drugs to numb teeth and nerves how many people would break that law? Ahh it would be perfect if we did not live in these bodys of flesh full of pains, Personaly I believe God give people knowledge to make medicine to help man just as he gives food , but some people eat to much food and some people eat to many drugs, but does that mean that the Government should remove all food and medcine from the shelf ....maby we should have a fat law and get funds to put fat people in jail, have fat court, laws that regulate how much fat food you eat, cause you know fatty foods cost the system and the tax payer and overweight people THEY HAVE DID THIS TO THERE SELF !!! you fat sorry thangs I hope they arrest all of you NOW!! you get so fat and sick and it cost so much money to take care of you have to build ramps and even order extra size coffins for you when you finally kill your self eating to much It should be a law and fat prisons NOW!!!...War On DRUGS and a WAR On FAT people and turn up the heat on both ...put the fatty police right in front the restrant and have them fattys to show there belly and reciept to see how much food they eat that is right you fat fatty your sicking Congress should send to seky millions to keep you in fat jail and house arrest and Doctors cant handle your fatness anymore Fat War Now...This was only a joke, God has Give us Food and drugs both to use with responcabality...food for hungar and medicine for sickness ...dont over eat and dont over medicate...you could hurt your self with both or die if you dont have both.

God worked for me. I was on meth, xanax, pot....I tried dozens of times to quit. I got God and was delivered. You do have to get to that place where you truly want to quit and ready to do what it takes. I laid it all down before God and quit with no withdrawals, I suddenly hated drugs, hated what they were and hated getting high. He changed it all around for me. Sober for 5 years now by His grace :) Good luck to you and God bless!

Yeah, and I'll be hoping everyday this person comes off drugs and wish them well, but in the meantime, I'll also be hoping, until they do come off those drugs, they don't steal my shit, so they can sell it to get their next fix.

Wait, don't tell me, I'm a shit, and I'm heartless!

Ive not been there but I had to quit something almost as addictive. The first thing I suggest is find a different set of friends. Sounds harsh but, if they don't have respect enough for you to keep it out of your face then you don't need them.

Next..is to want the change. Nobody on earth can help an addict of any kind unless they want to help themselves.

Next..totally detox your body of drugs.

Keep yourself with the right people by your side. You might find that difficult but you must be firm on this.

Every time you have temptation think of your goals and what your trying to accomplish.

I think the most important part of all is that you have the right crowd around you. Hey never know maybe a friend with the same problem might quit with you. You dont have to throw all your friends away but you do need to make it known that you dont want it around you nor do you want to discuss it. If their really your friend they will respect that. I wish you the best with it and trust me you can do this but it wont be easy.

The post from "MistyWaterColoredMemorie s", above, explains things very well. You've got to change the people, places and things in your life...if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten...a rotten life due to drugs.
Find A.A/N.A Meetings and attend them. They are available Monday through Thursday around here at four different sites. Work the 12 Step program which is explained at meetings. Step one, of the 12 step program, is admitting you are addicted and that your life is out of control. Many people can't get past this step (to the other 11) because they won't admit their addiction problem. For addicted women, the Cumberland Hope Center in Harlan County is a great rehab facility and they will even help former addicts get HUD housing when they leave the center. If you are a woman with an addiction, look them up and call. Finally, the key word is WORK...you've got to WORK just as hard to tay clean as you worked to get high. Remember how you would walk barefoot, up-hill, 5 miles, through two feet of snow to get high? Plus, do a lot of other tough or crazy things to get high? Well, it takes that same type of hard work and effort to stay clean. That same effort required to stay high will be required if you are to stay clean. The question is, do you want to stay clean bad enough to do the work?

Those folks must not realize that they are the minority around here. Two-thirds of the people I know are addicts, and many of them function very well and have good jobs. Odds are pretty good that they are complaining about "druggies" to an addict in the first place! I know addicts that dont think theyre addicts that complain about addicts... its ridiculous.
My big question is: How is complaining going to help? How does jail help? Why do we not have treatment centers in every town? And Im not talking about the forced Drug Court or go to prison thing either. It seems like all the good people are ready to complain, but no one is willing to do anything positive. Im sorry to say I think its only going get worse until people change their opinions about addiction.

In response to the two last posts, above, I've been there and done that, seen it all. The only thing that works is the stuff "CanDoIt" said in the above post. No B.S. there, just the truth. It worked for me and can work for anyone who wants it bad enough. The issue is that most don't want it bad enough to work the program.
