How can this state ask us to quit smoking in all public place's,and then want a dollar pack raise on cigarettes to raise money that is needed for the school retirement fund.?
I will continue to smoke as it is my right, the same as non-smoker's not to inhale second hand smoke.
Our Governor seems to think raising the price by $1 a pack will raise over a billion a year.
Why don't they start by lowering wages for county officials.? With all there side benefits they get plus what they take on there own is as much or more than the Governor gets.
How stupid do officials think we are.? I for one will get mine in Tenn. It is no different than seeing Tenn. plate's at our pole's.
Just goes to show how they think they can have the CAKE AND PIE too.
Whether you smoke or chew. What do you think.?

I hope they do pass a state ban on smoking in public. I don't want your second hand smoke and yes people shouldn't be allowed to smoke in public. Smoke at your house, smoke in your car. I don't have to smell that crap when I'm out to dinner. It's rude and so unhealthy. And yes tax the hell out of it. No one is saying you can't have them. Just saying you can't force everyone else to breath in your death sticks!

You can do anything you want, as long it does not affect my family. It's your habit, and you have every right to destroy your body, but you will not destroy mine.

You do not own all the air and open spaces. What gives you the right to tell others what to do in public? How many taxes do you pay that you don't like? When you pay all the taxes then you might have a say as to what I do and don't do. I think they ought to ban people like you that think they have the right to tell others what's right and what isn't. Did you serve in the military? Do you have a job? Do you have children? Do you pay taxes at all? It's ignorant people like you that has caused our current situation as a nation. When you let the Govt. decide what you can and can't do, then you end up with no rights to decide what is best for you. Cigarettes have never been proven to be the cause of all the deaths that happen. Tax the hell out of people that try to force others to comply with their ignorance.

How in the hell can people make sense out of a bunch of political idiots who want to ban smoking....then want to legalize a drug that people will be smoking. Ban smoking then legalize homosexual acts that are proven to promote a deadly virus? Ban smoking then give people money to kill them selves with sugar loaded food. This chit just keeps getting dumber and dumber each day.

Dont blow smoke my way whether it be from a cigarette or from stupid logic. Live and let live, whether you are gonna die from cancer or diabetes or aids. Dumb arse people.

I'd like to see a Barbourville cop give me a ticket for smoking in public. It won't happen stoopid. Maybe if I lit up in a building, but not in public.

Yeah I'd like to see that too! People that turn a small fine into resisting arrest is always fun to watch, expecially when a tazer is involved...

I thought public meant outside, in a park, at a football game or maybe the Bluegrass Festival. I totally agree about banning smoking indoors. I smoke but I don't smoke in my house. Next they will say if you have kids that you can't smoke in your car if the kids are with you. The point is Government telling you what you can and can't do. A lot of schools have already banned certain foods that are packed in your kids lunch box. Moosechelle Obummer has decided what your kids can eat at school. It's communism plain and simple. And dull minded people are accepting it because they won't have to make a decision or put any effort into how to run their own lives. The Government will make them for you.

What did you mean? You said you would like to see the police issue you a ticket for smoking in public, sounded to me like you were gonna refuse it which would probably lead to arrest. And public does indeed mean outside, anywhere pubic is gathered. That would mean the local parks, and water park. And any festival around the court house. Just saying, sorry if I put words in you mouth.

You didn't put words in my mouth. I was reading the comments and replies and your's didn't make much sense since I didn't see any mention of resisting arrest. No sensible person would be resisting a police officer in the first place. I know I wouldn't, it only leads to bad stuff for the resistor. Maybe some people just like to start stuff to entertain themselves.

Please tell me you don't think its a GOOD idea to smoke with your kids in a car with you?

The Government is not telling you what you can/can't do....They DON'T care about you. They care about the people you are endangering with your habits. Why does every smoker think these laws infringe on their rights? NO one is saying to you "don't smoke"....they are saying "don't smoke around people who don't want to breath it in"....whether you believe it on not...MOST PEOPLE DON'T SMOKE!!!!
