After more than two years clean, someone I care about deeply has started down the drug trail again. Most people, who knew this person, would have never beleived this person would stop taking drugs to begin with...but this person was CLEAN MORE THAN TWO YEARS! This person even worked to help other people get off drugs and to get them help! Yet, by constantly hanging around where drug use was occuring, this person has fallen off the wagon. One of the main teachings of A.A. or N.A, is to change the type PEOPLE, PLACES and THINGS they surrounded themselves with. This person even preached this same message to others! Yet, this person didn't take that same advice themselves...after being clean all this time. I'm at wits end...my caring did no good in the long run. Some people say, "once a druggie, always a druggie", and I guess they have been proven right in this case. All my love, caring and support was for nothing it looks like. "Gotta have a pill" is all I hear now, after two years of "I'm so proud of myself for quitting". I guess I just wasted my time beliving this person would keep putting forth the effort to required to stay clean. Well, lesson learned...I'm going to wash my hands of this situation...no other choce that I see!

That is about all you can do, because unless they want to stop, lecturing them isn't going to help anyway. In most cases, it'll make it worse.

Yes, I was just thinking about her, a few days ago, Mam.
