Is there a way to remove dark spot from HD tv screen?

My HD tv has a dark shadow or spot on one side. Is there any way to remove it? I had heard that it would remove the shadow if the tv was unhooked from the cable and just let is show "snow" for a few hours. However, when unhooked from cable it will only show a solid blue screen with no snow. This obviously doesn't help. Any ideas? Thank You

black usually means dead pixels, white are usually stuck pixels,
dead pixels are unrepairable.

Sounds like a winner for computers but how does this apply to HD TV's?

Its written in an ancient language common to the indigenous genre of "drunken pillbilly". The exact translation is unknown , however the key words indicate a meaning of "cheaper to buy a new one"

If the "spot" isn't there at all times, e.g. not there when it shows a blue screen, then it isn't a pixel problem.
