Clueless is obviously clueless. only people with highly critical parents who insisted on exceptionally early toilet training would point out a technicality, grammatical, or spelling error on a blog.
I posted that at three in the morning while working night shift. I simply wanted to point out that people certainly can die very, very quickly from a wound to the interior of the leg. I was not interested in giving an EMT-A lesson to people who really are not that interested in either of our posts.

First of all, the artery you speak of is the femoral artery located in the groin area. If severed, one will "bleed out" fairly quickly, unless major pressure is applied, true. Secondly, "they" do not draw blood out of your arteries for routine venipuncture, which is why it's called VENIpuncture. Blood for routine tests is removed from veins.
Not really into this whole discussion but to play the devil advocate here an ABG or Arterial Blood Gas is actually drawn usually from the artery that runs down the inside of the arm. So not all blood drawn is a veinpuncture. Just thought I would throw that out there as well and I am medically trained.

To the family of James and tip!! This whole thread should be removed shortly .... I'm sorry for your loss and I don't want the children seeing all of this. I'm sure another thread will more than likely be started but it can be removed also!!!! You all have your opinions about James and tip and you have that right but please remember no matter what your opinion they have a mother, sisters, brother, children etc... Etc... That are in mourning over James and I'm sure they all love tip so please let this rest.

Thank you. I was trained to be an EMT-A several years ago and did very well on classroom tests. When it came to the Emergency Room training before taking the certification test I realized that I was not cut out for that line of work so I did not bother to be certified. Some of what I learned will last a lifetime and some of it has been forgotten through lack of use. I do remember though that upon arriving at the scene the EMT-A was supposed to announce that they were medically trained.:) Once again, the purpose of my post was to simply inform others that a severe wound to the inside of the thigh can be life threatening.
