Oh, AW, it's Big Stevie who always sends a smile with his jokes. He's just popping in to say hi, in his own way. We talk about a lot of things here, and I respect you greatly, but please don't chase someone away because they make a political allegory. We have all said that we are free to express our opinions, as long as we are civil and respectful toward each other. Hope that I don't offend you, but this is the only thread that I have found that lets everyone speak his mind, and that's a rarity these days. You have to admit that it's a cute story, and not abrasive in any way.
I agree with you and I am not chasing Big Stevie away. But a cute political allegory (which it is) will attract the political fanatics like flies on chicken doo and then the thread will change to not allow anything except more political rampaging as it exists in the other 4 threads. In no way does it stifle Freedom of Speech. but I don't stand up and curse in church nor do I scream "Yankee Doodle" at grave side services and that is why I added LOL at the end of my comment.

We had a couple flocks of whooping cranes fly over yesterday. They were headed south. The sounds of fall in the air.

Good barnyard storie.. Short Story for you

The Greedy Dog is quite interesting to all the people. Enjoy reading this story.

Once there lived a dog. He was very greedy. There were many times that he had to pay for his greed. Each time the dog promised himself,“I have learnt my lesson. Now I will never be greedy again.” But he soon forgot his promises and was as greedy as ever.

One afternoon, the dog was terribly hungry. He decided to go look for something to eat. Just outside his house, there was a bridge.“I will go and look for food on the other side of the bridge. The food there is definitely better,” he thought to himself.

He walked across the wooden bridge and started sniffing around for food. Suddenly, he spotted a bone lying at a distance.“Ah, I am in luck. This looks a delicious bone,” he said.

Without wasting any time, the hungry dog picked up the bone and was just about to eat it, when he thought,“Somebody might see here with this bone and then I will have to share it with them. So, I had better go home and eat it.” Holding the bone in his mouth, he ran towards his house.

While crossing the wooden bridge, the dog looked down into the river. There he saw his own reflection. The foolish dog mistook it for another dog.“There is another dog in the water with bone in its mouth,” he thought. Greedy, as he was, he thought,“How nice it would be to snatch that piece of bone as well. Then, I will have two bones.”

So, the greedy dog looked at his reflection and growled. The reflection growled back, too. This made the dog angry. He looked down at his reflection and barked,“Woof! Woof!” As he opened his mouth, the bone in his mouth fell into the river. It was only when the water splashed that the greedy dog realized that what he had seen was nothing but his own reflections and not another dog. But it was too late. He had lost the piece of bone because of his greed. Now he had to go hungry.

Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.
Amen.

Yeah I'm a libertarian... or something, I don't believe very many politicians care about much other than their own gain.

I vote how I vote in local elections because I often know the person- emphasis on person- running. I know of one woman that I trust has her heart in the right place and the rest that have gotten my votes are maybes. The higher ups are pot luck, I think you take a shot in the dark and hope for the best in the morning Hehehe.

I'd rather read a good fart joke any day.

Yeah. Farts and politics-- they both can stink but at least the fart goes away.

and they can both blow a lot of hot air. LOL I am neither Democrat, Republican, Catholic, Baptist, Atheist, or Jew. Not do I belong to the Masons or the Knights of Columbus, the Ku Klux Klan or the NAACP.

My point is that I don't join anything or follow any man, woman, current fad, preacher, or teacher. GOD gave me the mental capacity to make decisions and in some cases I have chosen the wrong ones. But I and only I will have to answer for my errors in judgement or actions and I don't want to answer for someone else's poor judgement or actions.

Good Morning!
The little chipmunk is outside the door chirping away so I know its 8am and time to rise and shine. Wish I could get the little dudes picture but he scampers away as soon as the door opens. Neighbor lady has the most beautiful cat! A Bengal. It's a dark gold with brown markings. The cats in my neighborhood at home are regular ole cats so this was quite the treat to see!
I was delighted to see a little goldfinch flit across the graveled lot and the heron that flew overhead. But the 1797 pioneer cemetery was most fascinating. A lot of the words and names on the stones were still legible but many would need to have a rubbing with paper and soft lead or chalk to be recognizable. There is a dry stack slate wall around the perimeter and the area is well maintained. I had the urge to decorate each tombstone with an American flag but I realized any decoration I might add would be foolish and put of place. May they rest in quiet peace.

Hello, folks. Here I am again, alone on the bird thread. Everyone must be outside enjoying the beautiful fall weather. The squirrels are gathering acorns and black walnuts. They beat me to the walnuts this year. Can't find even one that hasn't been cracked open, with the contents removed. Black wooly worms all over the place, by the barn. Wonder what the Farmer's Almanac says about that for the coming winter.

I heard it said that is was going to be colder than average. I am hoping for a colorful Autumn.

Been enjoying these days and nights. The cooler air coming through a window or two at night is quite refreshing. Blessings to OJG, Betty and any that haven't posted or are heavy laden. I will keep you in my thoughts and as always send positive energy to each person needing it. Abeliever, glad you are well. If you lived closer I'd give you a laptop that I don't use. Fortunately, your loved one gave a helping hand;) There were many animals rescued during that flooding in Colorado. It looks like several years of rebuilding out there.
As James Taylor has sung for years,' You got a Friend.' As evening is upon us I think of the birth of my children and realize that blessings come from such simplicity. It comes from the work that we do and all that is achieved whether great or small. You terrific threaders have a pleasant evening. It is such a nice one:)
