I don' hate the mods, I love it when they show up here. It's fun messing with you guys especially because you are so obvious. It got quiet here for a while (I'm sure that's bad for business) so you guys show up to stir the pot...so predictable. Don't worry, I'll help you out a bit...I'm pretty good at stirring the pot also.

Anyone up for a little mundane instead of all this NOT so high level intelligence?..... Ok, I guess mundane is just in the eye of the beholder and one troll's trash is another's treasure. lol

Let's see.. rains came, grass grew, corn got planted, grass wasn't mowed, Betty's mower is broken, AB surely has a good cat video, and spam spasm has a new recipe. Does that about cover today's boredom?

I will sleep well knowing all is normal on the bird thread. LOL Good Night All.

You probably have the highest intellect of all....you just don't flaunt it. I'm sure that you have a chuckle or two with those who try to outdo each other in the intellectual arena. It just shows their ignorance. Keep on posting, AW. Mundane is good, especially when the pre-retirement days required quick thinking and a hectic pace of life. Lala

Hello to all my fine-feathered friends. Haven't posted for a few days because life got in the way. However, you kind-hearted folks are on my mind frequently.
I am in the process of adopting a new baby...a retired standardbred racehorse that I can actually ride. Got approval yesterday. I'm no longer able to ride the spunky young studs (horses, that is), so I decided to give a home to an older horse content to walk and trot. No more galloping through the fields for me. Hubby is convinced that I am suicidal, but I do know my limits. It took more than a year to regain my strength after my medical fiasco, but I'm doing fine these days, and grateful to our Creator for giving me extra time on this planet. I intend to put it to good use. I'm not ready, and probably never will be ready to assume the role of a rocking chair mamaw.

Three couples went in to see the minister to see how to become members of his church. The minister said that they would have to go without sex for two weeks and then come back and tell him how it went.
The first couple was retired, the second couple was middle-aged and the final couple was newlywed. Two weeks went by, and the couples returned to the minister. The retired couple said it was no problem at all. The middle-aged couple said it was tough for the first week, but after that, it was no problem. The newlyweds said it was fine until she dropped the can of paint.
"Can of PAINT?!" exclaimed the minister.
"Yeah," said the newlywed man. "She dropped the can and when she bent over to pick it up, I had to have her right there and then. Lust took over."
The minister just shook his head sadly, and said that they would no longer be welcome in the church.
"That's perfectly okay," said the man. "Home Depot doesn't want us back, either."
Funny as usual, but I would rearrange the order of the couples. Retired couples drop paint as well.

i rather like the talking about flowers and chickens and birds and such. i like to know what is going on in the world also but, why dwell on the past or what the future holds. and why spend all day arguing with strangers. can't change the past, cant predict the future either.

if there is one thing i have learned from a.w. it would be to appreciate what god has put right in front of me rather than worry about everything else and at the moment that happens to be some very happy two foot tall pea plants. i suppose two feet in a months time is pretty exciting if your a pea pod.(eye beholder...lol)

I have a book on recipes using spam
I'll dig it up and give you the info on it
There actually some rather tasty and unique ways to cook with it
Yuck. My mother raised me alone, and we were poor when I was growing up. I had Spam up to my eyeballs during those days. These days, a lobster dinner is more appetizing to me, but not too often. It's not too cheap in central Kentucky. Living withing driving distance to the ocean, and inexpensive seafood, are the only things I miss about New England.

I don't mind the spam on topix threads. I just scroll by and hardly notice it at all.

Yes, that's an excellent price. Freezing milk is fine, as long as you put it in a slightly larger container, to allow for expansion. Otherwise, you may split the seams on the plastic milk container, and thawing will result in an awful mess.

Yes, you can. I do it every month. The eagle only flies once a month around here, plus I live several miles from a grocery. I also freeze a pitcher of tea and that keeps it from getting cloudy.

@Lala.. You are right. The CREATOR has blessed us with more time on this planet and I don't think it was so we could just sit in a rocking chair or spend it all on a computer debating with others. I just went out for dog-tree time and the stars are shining brightly. So maybe I will get to mow grass today. In Honor of old George Jones "I Don't Need Your Rocking Chair".

@Betty.. Lala is also right about the milk expanding. I buy 4 gallons every month and keep and clean out one used carton and pour a little from each of the 4 that I intend to freeze into the recycled carton. But I also notice that when Kroger has 10 for 10 pricing, if you only get 2 or 3 items the register will still give you the lower price and you don't have to buy all 10.
