Good rainy afternoon bird threaders. I hope everyone got to sleep in and listen to the rain. I sure did. Got chili on the stove simmering, all household chores done, and ready to kick back and relax the rest of the day.

I see everyone is in the planting and bird watching mode. I sure am. The birds were singing and eating all through most of the morning rain. At least we are lucky only to have that to worry about thunderstorms or a little rain. Guess all that chemspraying for a week solid paid off. I at least got to open the windows back up since the rain settle the pollen to the ground. I can hear all kinds of bird activity around. Sounds wonderful.

Loving your cat stories betty, they sure can be entertaining. And divas wanting attention like my two. They are so silly.

Nope, I hope you got all your bike work done yesterday while it was nice. Everything is so green out and full of new growth. Quite uplifting after all the cold.

AW, looks like you and dog have the homestead under control.

I hope everyone has a relaxing evening.

Homes leveled as storms rip through Missouri, Arkansas

A forceful storm system whipped tornadoes and severe thunderstorms across Missouri and Arkansas late Wednesday, wrecking homes, downing power lines and injuring multiple people in both states.
The threat of strong winds, hail, and possible tornadoes moved east into the Ohio Valley and southeastern states, forecasters reported before sunrise on Thursday, with the possibility for storms stretching in a wide swath from Indiana to Georgia during the day.

Other parts of the country, including South Dakota and Minnesota, were punched with a mix of snow and ice, and Gov. Mark Dayton called out the National Guard on Wednesday to help ice-bound Minnesotans. Freezing rain and ice yanked down power lines and tree limbs in southeastern Minnesota, with more foul weather and up to a threat of snow on Thursday.

Minneapolis could get up to 10 inches of snow as the storm moves east, with up to a foot predicted for parts of Wisconsin and Michigan. The late wintry weather could make a final pass over northern New York and New England before it finally eases out over the Atlantic on Friday.

Deadly tornado hits Mississippi as storm system stretches across East

A destructive storm system draped itself across half the country Thursday, from the Gulf Coast to Canada and with a wingspan from Maine to the Dakotas. At least one person was killed in Mississippi, where a tornado touched down.

Authorities in Kemper County, Miss., along the Alabama state line, reported that the storm also caused several injuries and extensive damage and destroyed at least one steel building.

By early afternoon, the tornado was moving toward Alabama, and the more heavily populated cities of Birmingham and Tuscaloosa were in the path of the worst of the storm system.

The system, which has disrupted weather all over the country this week, formed a giant T on Thursday. Snow fell in the Dakotas and upstate New York, and ice slickened roads in Wisconsin. Rain drenched the Ohio Valley and New Orleans.

For a smile:

See 11 oh-so-cute pics of a baby napping with French bulldog puppies

Everyone on Earth is pretty much in love with these photos from Pennsylvania dog breeder Cindy Clark. And what's not to love? The pictures feature an adorable baby all snuggled up with a litter of chubby French bulldog puppies ó so, pretty much the cutest things in the world all at once. The baby was 3 months old when the photos were taken in November, and the puppies were 3 weeks old. Since then, the dogs all found new homes. But if you canít get enough of these pics, you should know Clark told msnNOW that another session is planned with the same baby (a little older now) and a new litter of puppies. Dear Internet: Please make portraits of this baby and French bulldogs a yearly, if not monthly, tradition.[Source]

Tabby cat dances on the head of the world's most patient dog

Some animals are more patient than others, but this golden-coated pooch really takes the cake in forbearance, enduring with complete restraint a tabby cat enthusiastically dancing on his head. The dog is so chill, in fact, that we're almost a little concerned. Is closed-eyed canine OK? Is he enjoying his feline friend's fancy footwork? Is he sleeping right through his skull massage? Is one of them actually having a little too much fun? Questions, questions. We'll just have to watch it over and over again in search of answers.

haha funny and too cute.

most my cats like to do thier "milk pawing" thing on thier beds for the most part and just involve thier front paws. but my tabby, which we rescued and nursed before her eyes even opened, does a more theatrical form like the cat in the video to my pillow all the time. i finally gave up the pillow to her and just started using a new pillow after tiring of changing the case out just about every day (just cant lay my head on something she rubs her bum on...eeew) i keep it in my armoire till i lay down to keep it safe but i still wake up occasionally to her all of three inches from my nose doing her little ritual and have to change out the case. they are all agitators and instigators but are a hoot to watch.

so evry thing that had sprouted i left out in the rain, not too worried about the peas and cabbage since they seem to like a good cold rain but i brought my pole beans back in, they still have not sprouted and i dont want them up heaved by the ton of rain. my green peppers and jalapenos i think are ready to leave my baby green house and go in their big pot.... they are really thriving, shot up about an inch just yesterday. got some cedar branches to stake the beans with as soon as they pop up, hopefully by this weekend.

think my aloes are stressed from the weather flip flops and i probably over watered them. stalks are all turning yellow.... but they aren't mushy feeling yet or anything so i think i caught it before the roots had a chance to rot. i had put them out on the porch before we left town, think they just needed more adjustment before placing them out full time so i brought them back in, put them all in one big pot with some fresh cactus mix and put them back next to their window where they were happy. guess i will try again when the weather warms back up and only put them out for a few hours a day till they get used to the sunshine again.

any tips or thoughts from those of you who have greener thumbs than i would be very much appreciated.

I can identify with that pillow scenario. They are a hoot to watch though with their springy jumps and plays. I have one who loves to retrieve straws. You have to watch your drink because she will be eyeing that straw. One retrieves a yarn ball and brings it back for you to throw again. They are so silly. Very loving animals.

This one is for you. It is too cute:

We're getting some good rain now.
It'll be chilly tomorrow, compared to the last couple of days anyway.
