1. If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

2. If you have to get your parents permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

3. If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book, but not to vote,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

4. If the government wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt, you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

5. If, in our largest city, you can buy "two" 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

6. If an 80-year-old woman and 3 yr old child can be stripped searched by the TSA, but a woman in a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

7. If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

8. If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is cute, but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

9. If children are forcibly removed from parents who discipline them with spankings while children of addicts are left in filth and drug infested homes…, you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

10. If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing, and free cell phones,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

11. If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big screen TV while your neighbor buys iPhones, TVs and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

12. If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more safe according to the government,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

Betty, I certainly appreciated that and it made perfect sense to me. It's a real shame what has come about.

@ Betty, thanks for sharing. It is the truth though. Our country has become one of disintegration and loss of rights like the TSA searches while the average citizen has more difficulties. With all the financial and military backing this country has done, the money could have been better spent on entrepeneurs and the manufacturing in our country not somewhere where rebels and religious zealots misuse and abuse. When will our leaders learn:(

Good Friday was great and accomplished much on the friend's new shed, now if Arthur will assist (or just not get in the way) then we might get finished and back to working on my own place on Monday. I won't work on Easter Sunday.

It is not a religous thing, just following my heritage. Grandpa worked on the old rock farm from "Can to Cant" or "Sun up until Sun down", but on Sundays all he would do is milk the cow and feed the chickens. However, Grandma worked hardest on Sunday's and started cooking on the old wood stove on Saturday nights and kept food on the table covered with a white sheet (to keep the flies off) all day long so that when the in-laws, out-laws, cousins and friends showed up there was something to eat.

We kids played cow pasture softball using cow patties for bases and dipped in the creek afterwards with our clothes on to get rid of most of the "home plate". LOL When evening came, Grandma would always say "Y'all Come" when she really wanted to say "WHEW".

lol i grew up in a religion that was very strict about the whole, sunday is rest day and do not by and sell on sunday :)

i can remember many a time that we would be out of a staple like milk or a loaf of bread and we would stop off at Kroger on the way home from church (of course we couldn't go to the Kroger right down the road from the church... we would drive all the way across town to the other one) my mom would be looking over her shoulder the whole time ready to dive behind a display at any minute in case she saw someone from church...lol. us kids were like, "but mom if we see them at the store too?" it made no difference to her...she was not about to get caught if she could help it.

now years later she has kind of adopted my mentality of "just let them talk cause they going to anyway" and stops off every Sunday at the McDonald's right across the street from the church for an ice cream cone and an apple pie. we kids like to chide her every once in a while about it. "awe..... uh mom.......your not supposed to buy and sell on Sundays!" she just laughs and says the bible also says to mind your own business too...lol

Great post, Betty. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Good morning, my feathered friends. It is going to get warm through the weekend, then cold again. Green grass and trees are budding in my yard. Birds are everywhere. I don't think that I've seen so many in the past 15 years, since I've been living here.

Oh, my. Just looked out of my window and the mourning doves are trying to perform kinky sex- IN A TREE. Good grief, they could at least book a room. LOL. It's too early in the day for bird pornography.

I was getting into my car last spring and noticed two birds "in the act." The one was rather violent, pecking incessantly at the other. I don't know if it was the male or female. The disturbance - rustling of the branches- caught my attention. It was a very unsettling sight. I had never seen that odd behavior between birds. Is that normal behavior of birds ?Thanks.

Yes, that is pretty normal. The male does a macho dance to attract the female. When on the ground, they will fan their tail feathers, and strut around the female. If she finds him worthy, she will accept his advances and they will mate. The mourning doves will mate for life (they are much more loyal than humans). If one of the pair dies, the other will not look for a replacement. The 'violent' pecking looks worse than it really is. He is displaying all the good stuff that he can pass on to offspring. In nature, the strongest prevail, and he has to show her that he is strong and dominant. After all, this is the way they will survive as a species.

I grew up much the same way and came to learn that many "rules" are just man made. If one is watching people to keep from getting caught, then are they really serving GOD or just people?

I am glad you got some time with Momma and visiting. It seems you are really busy and have little time for pleasures. I had a great day and finished the friend's shed and I am about finished too. LOL

Tomorrow, I will go to church at the regular time. The community is having an Easter Sunrise service that I won't attend since it will be well after sunrise and the sun will be high in the sky and the morning fog will even be lifted. But I guess it will be early for the late sleepers, but it sure won't be sunrise. LOL

Yes, I don't do anything much just for myself, or to have fun.
I cherish every minute with my parents. Mom is near 80, and dad is near 85, and I know we can't live forever.:( I don't know what I'll do when I lose them. I have many friend, but my mom is my BEST friend.:)
