Good morning birdthreaders. Hope everyone had a peaceful night. I slept like a baby with that cool air coming through the window, slightly cracked, while listening to the rain fall. Apparently it fell all night, as it looks like flood city out there. Creek is up too. It finally stopped about an hour ago. The BIRDS are singing. Yay, sounds like SPRING more and more.

I plan on it being a lazy day. Housework is all done, might sort some paperwork, but that is all.

I hope everyone has a great day.:)

Watch This Wild Gorilla Reunite With the Man Who Saved Him (VIDEO)

What does a billionaire casino owner have in common with a wild gorilla? That sounds like it could be the opening line of a cheeky joke, but in actuality, what they have in common is a very heartfelt bond.

Damian Aspinall may be a billionaire casino owner, but he's also the founder of The Aspinall Foundation, a conservancy group dedicated to supporting global wildlife. Among its myriad conservancy projects, its most outstanding endeavor may be that it rehabilitates and reintroduces once captive gorillas back into the wild.

For Aspinall, one of those gorillas in particular, a youngster named Kwibi, captured his heart. The conservationist personally raised the animal for several years before setting him free in the Foundation's million-acre reserve in West Africa.
Five years later, Aspinall traveled back to Africa in order to check on Kwibi, who was now a fully-grown adult. The following video shows their touching reunion.

What’s of particular note is that conservationists on the reserve warned Aspinall that Kwibi had previously attacked the last two people who came in contact with him.

Nonetheless, it’s clear that this gorilla viewed his former protector with a higher regard than he had towards other human beings. And more surprising than abstaining from an attack, showed an attachment to him even five years after their last meeting.

It's not unheard of for wild animals to form bonds with their protectors. Anna Julia Torres, a well-known animal conservationist in Columbia, often cuddles with the lions she keeps on her nature reserve. But Torres sees her animals daily, while Aspinall hasn't been a presence in Kwibi's life for some time.

The work of the Aspinall Foundation and others like it are crucial to gorillas' survival. These animals remain on the precipice of extinction due to the presence of so many man-made threats, not the least of which is rampant poaching.

Human industry continues to view them as things, commodities to be bought and sold, or simply discarded. But as we continue our destruction of gorilla populations unabated, videos like this one demonstrate that these creatures have their own internal lives—ones which are very much worth honoring and protecting.

I love the Christian and Lion reunion after 35 years. It is on this site as well. Lower left hand corner after this video goes off. What Amazing creatures God has made.

This girl should be on The Voice. I love Josh Groban. Here are two of my favorites by him. Enjoy

The rain is slacking up a bit, which makes me happy. Too bad I have to get out in this to go to work. Why couldn't I be fabulously wealthy instead of SO good looking? lmao

Cloudy today. The gorilla video brought tears to my eyes. He's did not want Mr. Aspinall to leave. That sad face at the water's edge reaffirmed once again to me animals have feelings also. He should visit more frequently;)

Hi Misty eyed, I was touched by that video too. It is amazing how animals display human feelings and it was evident by this gorilla and his actions. It is amazing how he introduced his family to him. I agree Mr. A should visit him often if he can.

Hope you have a great day.

How can someone not like Josh Groban? I guess it is the poster not the post. hahaha

Morning Hugs!

The gorilla video had me in tears over coffee this morning too. What a sweet story. If I wanted to cry some more, LOL, I would go watch the full version!

Thank you all for the prayers.(((More hugs)))

Hope - Funny you caught the story about Chavez, Cancer, and the CIA.=) My next sad good-bye will be Ahmadinejad. Chavez had more good in him than Ahmadinejad, but it is the interesting players that make life fun. Ahmadinejad's son-in-law may run. I doubt he has a fighting chance though. Ahmadinejad appears to want to tick off the supreme leader, even at Chavez's funeral. Not too smart if he wants to live a good life after June.
The board will be very interesting if Ali Fallahian wins the election. I doubt his odds are very good with the public, but that might not matter much. He has a very colorful history! He is considered a terrorist, even against Iranians. His murdering buddy is also runnning. With only 3 candidates,so far, this gives them some pretty good odds.

Well...I am about done with coffee (half of the 2nd pot). I am supposed to go drink some more with a girlfriend in a little bit. Oh, yeah...I will be hyped today! So, I better get off the thread and start getting ready. I will post during breaks when I return home in a couple of hours. LOL I just realized...I thank God for Mondays! It is the one day of the week that I am not stressed to get things done. Ha...I have all week! heee heee!!!!!!

Love, hugs, and blessings to you and yours, my friend. Hope to catch up with you later.

Good morning, folks. Rainy day, but warm, so that's o.k. Hopefully I will get to my taxes this week. It's hanging over my head, but I just can't sit down to do it. Anyway, I may run out of time if I keep loafing. Have a good day, and I'll pop in when I can.

Interesting that cancer would be more prominent in developed countries: I'm thinking artificial sweeteners, preservatives and GMO's. I quit having x- rays for my teeth years ago. Partner wants me to go in for a chest x-ray. But I just know that I do not want to be exposed to more radiation. Read about bee venom possibly killing HIV. Noticed an article the other day, Doctors destroyed the HIV in a baby . The child has become free of that disease. I'm having trouble sleeping. The frogs in the nearby creek are croaking to their little hearts content. Wonder if they're mating? Hehe. Window open, breeze coming through. Blessed with the small wonders in this world.
By the way, I just happened to run across a news article about an outbreak of meningitis in gay men who live in NYC. It is not related to the fungal meningitis that was reported recently. That was caused by contamination in a lab manufacturing injectable steroids for back and knee arthritis.
This thing is new, and kills within hours. Several gay men were found dead in their apartments. Unfortunately, although people in this country are politically correct and accept or even embrace the gay lifestyle, they still have negative views privately. I'm concerned because this is how AIDS got started. There wasn't much concern about aggressively finding a cure for those living this lifestyle. Then the virus spread and spread and spread, causing concern for the safety of our blood supply. This problem could result in the same thing, but it is not being reported by mainstream media. Scary stuff.

As you can see, I am procrastinating with taxes. Actually, it is so easy, but I can't get started. A few years back, I had to do taxes for our partnership racing stable and my speech/language pathology business. Preparing the documentation for our accountant took hours. Now I just have to find out if I go long form for my medical expenses, which actually cost us more than some people earn in a year. this should take only a couple of hours, but getting started...yeesh, I hate it. Glad to see you back on the forum. I think that it is a good diversion for both of us. It seems to be a good way to defuse stress.

Report 30 mins ago:

Quake rocks inland region of Southern California
An earthquake shook a wide area of Southern California on Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It struck at 9:55 a.m. and was initially estimated at a magnitude 5.1, with several smaller seismic events also reported. However, the largest quake was quickly downgraded to a magnitude 4.7.

The quake was centered 16 miles south of Palm Desert, California, in the high desert area northeast of San Diego.

There were no initial reports of damage or injuries.

According to Leslie Gordon of the USGS, the initial magnitude reports are generated by computer and automatically sent out. Those reports are revised after data are reviewed by USGS seismologists.

The quake was felt sharply in the local area, The Associated Press reported, and also rolled through downtown Los Angeles, San Diego and in Orange County.

Palms Springs police Sgt. Harvey Reed told the AP the department has received no reports of damage or injuries.

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/03/11/17...

Check out the map and see California rocking. Here are today's earthquake so far:

11 March 2013

Illinois
Magnitude: 2.7

California 34 reported so far today, started out as 2.0 magnitude before reaching the 5.+ magnitude
Magnitude: 5.2

Colorado
Magnitude: 2.6

Nevada
Magnitude: 3.2

Alaska has a cluster of small ones showing, Hawaii has one.

Seeing all those earthquake icons in the Madrid Fault Zone is unnerving. The Missouri, Tennessee, and Arkansas earthquakes from yesterday are still on the map. Plus, you can see the rain is moving across Ky.

http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index2.php...

Elsewhere:

Solomon Islands
Magnitude: 5.6

Iraq - 7 so far today
Magnitude: 5.0

http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index2.php

A whole lot a shaking going on.

Oh lala, that "chip" threat has been proven false info many times since it got started. I would never agree to it if it was implemented. I would take my chances.
