So far, so good! Going to have some more of that yummy Alaskan salmon so kindly shipped from my buddy. So I'm getting ready to put dinner on, the critters are all happy, the chickens laid well today and I'm kicked back.
Got all of my daily chores done without hurting anything else in my poor old body, hehe. It's a good day when you can get things done without hurting what's already hurt, AND keep from creating another 'ouch' for your body to scream about somewhere down the road.
That salmon sounds so good! I haven't had any lately, except out of a can. lol I like salmon steaks rubbed with lemon-pepper then baked. Yummy! I believe I am having a little soup here shortly then later I'm going to see the sweetie and I bet he will want to eat something. I was supposed to go have lunch with him but that didn't work out on my end.
I hear you on the household injuries. lol I cut my finger the other day real good. I was wondering if I wasn't going to need a stitch. lol

I agree on our not so stable citizens. Sometimes I really wonder about them, really. Sometimes I think the majority of the people are wacked out in one way or the other. But MAYBE they are just more out there and vocal than the sane folks? I hope!!!
Got to go. Talk later.:)

For music lovers, check out a New Orleans street musician named "Grandpa Eliott" along with a now deceassed street musician named "Roger Ridley" from Santa Monica and others from around the world doing "playing for Change" and doing a mix of "Stand by Me"... a most awesome song with a most awesome message includes singers from Russia, Amsterdam, Italy, Africa and even some Native Americans.
Just Google "Stand by me, playing for change" if you are interested.
I am very familiar with them, and if you like R&B, and good Blues, listen to the version by King Solomon Burke. He also sang "Let me Wrap my Arms You" which is one of my favorites he has done. He passed away about a year ago, on the way to a performance in Holland, I think.

@Lala.. I am familiar with Solomon Burke's song, but the one that holds a special meaning for me is "Percy Sledge - When A Man Loves a Woman" because my now deceased wife and I took our last vacation to Jamacia on the same flight with Percy.

That's how I was pondering on making this batch of salmon tonight! Funny that!! I ended up marinading it for 1/2 an hour in some Teriyaki and fresh grated ginger though, so I'll probably just stick to the marinade seasoning and broil it up that way with some hot sesame seed sprinkled on top to toast up nice and brown..

I'm trying SO hard to drop this 20 pounds, hehe!! I think if I'm able to that, I can drop the medication that I have to take to keep my sugar where it's supposed to be. I've already been able to cut the dosages almost in half and have also been able to avoid the midday dosage completely!! Hopefully I'll win this battle yet. That, and my 3 fave pairs of Levis can come out of the dresser drawers again too, hehe.

I have a live and angry one living right here. The "green and blue winged wonder bird'. ROFLMBO!! That stubborn and hateful little varmint... Until it wants something anyway, then it'll 'sweet song' me half to death until it gets what it wants.

And believe me when I tell you, you'll hand treats in there multiple times while it drops them and gives you the stink eye. This goes on until you finally offer up JUST the one it's craving at that particular time....

It's a lucky bird.

@Betty.. I am glad you are getting some "Me" time and welcome back. I sometimes get too much of that time. LOL
My roof leak is where the main metal roof breaks to go over a "lean-to" roof that was once the old porch here at the homestead but is now an entrance "mud area" and where my wood burning stove is located. It is not a bad leak, and the ceiling is not drywalled but recycled tongue and goove oak planking that is unlikely to rot out in my lifetime, The back wall is old recycled barn lumber (where I have my old trinkets hanging) and the floor is recycled brick work over concrete. So there is not much need to worry about it. Besides, if it isn't raining, it don't leak and when it is raining, it is to wet to get up there and fix it. hehehe
i need to adopt your nonchalant attitude when it comes to my roof..... hubby says the same thing "it only leaks when it rains" and "it only leaks when its REALLY raining". he is right, it don't leak in a light rain, just when the water collects enough to seep though... just sticks a pot under the spot and don't sweat it. but me... oh! that water spot forming on my fresh painted ceiling (and the drip sound).... and my paranoid imagination.... MOLD SPORES! i would be lying if i said its not getting the best of me :)

Naw, I'm stuck with it. It's traumatic on them to keep changing their homes and environments like that. And I'm already it's third owner. It's here until it dies of old age.

I've had a little bit of success with it so far. At first you couldn't even put your hand in it's cage to clean. Now at least I can do that. Plus it even takes treats from my hand without biting me now. It's slowly starting to trust me. SLOWLY. We're making progress... It is what it is..

And I only paid a VERY slight re-homing fee for it. It's bird 'castle' alone is worth hundreds of dollars and I only gave $100.00 for the whole set up, toys, cage, started bucket of food, etc. I knew what I was getting into beforehand. It hadn't been worked with previously.

The 'blue and green winged wonder bird' isn't at fault here. Whoever bought it when it was young and didn't care for it properly is.

You never know. Maybe in a year or so, I'll have it sitting on my hand. I have all the time in the world these days and can't take long vacations with all the critter babyies I already have here anyway.

If I had drywall and fresh paint, I would agree with you. But mine is solid wood in that area and brick work flooring. Now if it leaked somewhere else, that would be a different story. If you ever get it stopped, wipe the area with a chlorine bleach and first cover it with KILNS, then if you have left over paint you can touch up.

you need to get some very heavy leather gloves,... maybe two pairs !
and you must be brave enough to reach in to the cage and grab it

and then make a point to handle the parrot every day ,...
grasp it firmly , but lightly --- hold its wings in ,....
eventually it will stop biting you - if you are gentle
let it know that you wont hurt it ,.....
and give it a treat after the handling
you should be able to handle it with bare hands within 8 - 10 weeks ,..
it might even eventually even become your best friend ,...

So glad to see you post again. Happy they cut your hubby lose to go do what he does. Are you still taking care of the kiddos? Did you see Una's comment on you. haha Still thinking of those "balls" and we all get along now. Go figure, who would of thought.:)
Did you hear anything about some standoff in Radcliff earlier tonight? Not too far from where you guys use to live. Guess the violence and crazies are everywhere. They were having one in Alabama where some nut went on a school bus and tried to get some 6 year old when the bus driver refused, he shot the bus driver 3 times and ran off with the kid. That was yesterday and they were still trying to get him out of the bunker last I heard. What a crazy world we live in.
I hope you didn't get much storm damage down your way. We were lucky most of it was across the river. Just wind now and a few flakes.
Take care girl, hope you come back. We miss you.
i have to start sticky noting the page before i reply to someone, it tooks twenty minutes of scrolling back and forth to find this to reply to... five pages back. forgot how fast we tend to fill up the pages on here..lol

yes im still watching my band of munchkins but not nears as much as before the two little ones are head-starters now so they are here from two thirty till they get picked up or took home Monday thru Thursday and all day Friday. the oldest is just here from three in the afternoon till karate at five mon, weds, fri, and here till they get picked up the other days..... so when all is figured in, maybe twenty or so hours a week. on karate days we all go and watch roman during his practice and then i drop everybody off, i could lighten my load and drop my nephrew off before we go but he likes to watch it too and they do sooooo good... they "karate kick" on the sidelines. very cute.

yes i saw the comment from the fart man. I'm glad more have decided to take part in meaningful conversation as well.
I think we all need to realize that we all have stresses and life ups and downs, and things going on....
this is a nice place to come chat with others and forget about daily stresses and those who come on here trying to impede on someone else mental vacation are just childish and shouldn't be taken seriously, if i don't like what is said i can always hit the x, or chide back, but i will not let my panties get all twisted and wedged over one opinion and a planet full of opinions.

yes i saw about the stand off in Radcliff. that's one place i can say i don't miss living, in fact i have only drove thru there one time since we moved. i tried my hand at city living and just came to the conclusion its not for me. the cops are always busting in someones door and stupid people are always cutting you off and letting their animals poop on your walkway. i just like the trees and quiet i have now, the crazies can have the city.
its nice to let Joe poodle out the back door and not have to feel the need to stand guard with a bat while he does his dooty.
one time when we still lived off of hill street i was out there with the bat walking Joe and (you know how they patrol the neighborhoods there) a cop drove by once, then turned around and creep-ed by, then turned around and stop in front of us and shined his spot light on us. the whole time he was circling Joe had stopped, leg still raised and was glaring right back at him like "uh, do you mind?"
the cop rolled down his window and said " mam, what are you doing?" in a rather sarcastic tone and I in an equally sarcastic tone said, "whats it look like?, the dog had to pee!"
he said "well.... why do you have a bat?"
and i just started laughing and said,
" uh duh... its four thirty in the morning in Radcliff and I'm outside, of course i have a bat! do you think im stupid?" in the most condescending tone i could create. he just shook his head and chuckled and rolled up his window and drove on.
yep, they cant have the city for sure.
