Honey, I look at it this way: If everybody was "right", we'd have no comedy, hehe!
(Speaking of someone who "ain't right") I adore Jeff Dunham and his puppets, ROFLMBO!! Now THAT'S a man that truly ain't right, hehe!!
The body and mind thing? Well yeah, that has hit close to home this year. I'm still kickin' though. And plan to for some years to come.
By the way, I finally made the decision to stop smoking. I did just that a little over two weeks ago now. Haven't touched a cigarette since. I'm on a roll... Bring it on 2013. I'm ready for ya!!
Great! I'm proud of you for laying down those cigarettes.:) I have lost a couple people very dear to me because of cigarettes so I have a deep hate for those evil little things. I'm sure you will feel even better and that is great.:)

So true, who wants to grow up anyway! LOL My boyfriend almost bums me out sometimes. I get some big idea about something I'm gonna do and he has to remind me that the last time I did that was probably about 30 years ago. So, whatever!!! lol Sometimes I just have to show him a thing or two.:)
I have seen a little of Jeff Dunham and Ahmed the Terrrorist, funny! lol

What are everyone's plans for tonight? Seriously, I just realized that it's New Years Eve...
Anyone going out? Staying in? Having company over? Parties??
Do tell!!!!
I am staying in medicated and coughing while passing up fun at two parties I always hit every year, plus the flyby happy wishes for my favorite little bar like Cheers, lots of family and friends. Oh well, suits me after the year I have had. Maybe next year if I am here. Tonight I will reflect on this year and try to come to grips with it, ponder on what the New Year may hold and what I would like it to hold. Then how to achieve it. At midnight, I will toast the year, all my loved ones and friends, drink my glass of Martini and Rossi Asti Spumanti I always have, say a pray for our country, and the world and lastly thank my Creator for all I do have and watch a movie or go to bed.

It is what it is. My son works til closing tonight and he and his girlfriend will stop by and I am grateful for that. I just hope the freezing rain/s isn't a problem out there and everyone is safe no matter what they are doing.

Congrats on the non smoking.:)

Not any stranger than the rest of us on this thread. Although we are not exactly alike in personality, we have enough things in common to stay "linked" together as friends. All of us are in tune with nature, in various ways. We can share opposing views while still respecting the other person, and none of us feel "threatened" by diverse opinion. Most importantly, I think, is that we feel a part of nature, not superior to it, and we seek strength and comfort, and Wisdom from Our Creator, no matter how we perceive Him to be.
Well said. Have a Happy New Year, my friend. Love,(((HUGS))), and blessings. I am hoping to see some of our dear friends show up, like Peace, watch, Specialist, Prepper, Hicky, Betty, LSD923 etc.. I miss them.

Santa brought me a new 20 gauge shotgun for Christmas, among with an assortment of other 'needful' accessories to go along with it. I might make some noise of my own out there if I hear trespassers or the likes getting too close for comfort.. For not having any neighbors close by, we've had some very strange things going on around here. Odd noises and occasional gunfire off in the hills, etc.

Other than that, I'm with Lala. I've got a good book or two still left to finish, a brand new shotgun, and a new coffee pot. What more could a girl ask for, pray tell? Other than taking a hot bubble bath and putting on some new P.Jammies and warm fuzzy house slippers before midnight, that is.....

My kids and I raised two, whose mother was killed by a car. I kept them for 4 more months, a our vet advised, in order that they grew large enough to be independent in the wild. They are marsupials, like kangaroos, whose young finish development in mom's belly pouch. Then they stay close to mamma, hitching a ride on her back until they are 4-6 months old. I successfully let them go, and about two months afterward, we got paid a visit from the little female, so I know that at least one survived.
That's neat.:) I have heard that if you see one hit on the road to check the pouch and their might be babies. I haven't ever done that for fear of getting ran over like the possum did! LOL If I ever ran across a baby one I'd sure be tempted to make a pet out of it, even though that's not really good. It is neat how they can hang on and ride on their mama. I tried to push one off the porch rail one night and could not budge him he was hanging on so tight!

There will be no Dick Clark this year... He was a lifetime icon to me during New Years celebrations. I never missed watching him, if even for just a few minutes.
Did your all nighter for Y2K accomplish what you wanted? I sat in front of my PC monitor that night with some friends over at the house. We were counting down the seconds, drinking champagne, and almost begging it to zap out, hehe! Nothing happened, obviously....
Yes, it worked perfectly but we had worked on it for most of 1999, we even began in 1997. That night was just a "cut-over" process to a newer version. The biggest problem stemmed from when older computers were limited on memory and many systems were built to drop the century and carry only the last 2 digits and it would have been a problem to differentiate between Jan 1,1900 and Jan 1, 2000.

So when calculatimg the terms of such things as long term investments, mortgages, or things like how long a life insurance policy had been in effect, the calculations would have gone negative. To subtrct say 1967 from 00, the result would have been a negative 67 instead of plus 33. I devised a plan for my company to convert those same 2 digits on all historical records from just numbers to a combination of numbers and letters, and it worked and still does today. LOL

Already feeling the positive effects of quitting, and let me tell you, it's a SUCH nice feeling!! I even started sleeping better, which was a complete surprise! I'm sticking with it because these Ecigs have been even easier than taking Chantix was. And I tried Chantix twice. Those nightmares and other side effects were brutal... The Ecigs are a God send as far as I'm concerned..

I hear tell though that Uncle Sam is trying to shut them down. Saying that they are a "drug delivery" system. Two companies filed lawsuits in federal government not long ago and won, but I doubt it will be very long before they try to stop the use of Ecigs completely again.

Why would they want to stop these from being used, yet still allow tobacco products to be sold legally? Well, we all know the answer to that one already. Don't we....

They had a special clip on the Today show where one of the crystals in the ball had his name engraved. His wife was on the show too. I don't even like Carsen Daly. I so miss Dick Clark.

I've never heard that before!! Now I'll be compelled to check them for babies! Lord, help me. Don't they have a breeding season or something? Please say yes. I really don't want to raise any possums and I am SUCH a stray animal magnet already..... Why the good Lord always seems to send poor strays my way is a mystery, but it's the honest truth.

LOL If he's still sick well, maybe I'll give him a peck on the BACK of his head...he better not even sniffle. lol We will rent some movies and eat too much. Or I don't know, maybe go visit some friends, who knows. But then again, plans have a way of falling through a lot of times. Hope not!

I will stay home for New Year's Eve. I was never one for partying or drinking (although I like a "fancy" frozen drink on occasion). We have our little guy to take care of, and I still don't feel comfortable leaving him with other folks, even though our neighbor friends have offered on many occasions. After evening chores are done, I will settle in with a good book to read. I may even scan Topix on occasion, to see if anybody else has such a quiet existence. How about everyone else?? I'll bet AB has got herself a date with her new Beau.
Nah, he will be out with friends and family I am not familiar with. We are quite at that Beau stage yet. Jury is still out on that one. He did offer to come by, but hey, I'm sick, I don't want to bothered with. hahaha Nice guy though. Gut tells me Mr. Right is lurking somewhere else though.

Oh yeah, sounds like another government/tobacco company and PROBABLY drug company deal to me! They don't care about people. All any of them care about is the almighty dolllar! Tobacco companies want to make their money on tobacco, big drug companies make their fortures off of cancer and our dear government gets HUGE kickbacks from both of them. That so ticks me off!

No, I won't take credit for that. I (and numerous other IT people around the world) worked on large mainframe systems. Those gall-danged things on one's desks came along about 1985 and were largely used to just transmit data back and forth to larger machines. It is what the larger, older machines did with the data and that might be what kept your's from going POOF.

Not that I wanted the world's finances or anything else to be effected. But in-home PC's at that time? It wouldn't have bothered me one iota back then if it would have crashed, never to be resurrected..
