I also need well buckets etc. what advice on garden seeds and how to store for many years. Would water be safe to drink in Corbin barrels and how much do the cost. People need to wake up for their kids sake if they do not care about themselves. Covers and warm clothing is a need for sure
You can buy Sealing Wax on Ebay and yes if the Barrels are Food Grade they are safe ... The place that sells them has both food safe and non food safe types... The Food Safe one have only had Food and Water in them in the past... The Non Food safe had farm chemicals in them and are a bit cheaper... They are fine for storing Canned Goods and Sealed items or Supplies ... But you always should rinse them a couple of times before use... The same place also have Large 400 Gal Plastic Tanks for a 100 bucks that are in a steel cage... Great for Water Storage... I have one on the Porch...

Call around there are Several Well Drillers around the area but you might find it cheaper to drill a well than to Fix an old one because if it's not been used it will have to have a new valve at the bottom and you could have a lot of rust in the pipes... Do a Net Search for Well Drillers and just give one a call and explain what you have and what you want...

As for Seeds... Only By "Heritage" Seeds... Never, Never buy "Hybrid" seeds.... Hybrid Seeds are genetically made to only grow one crop.. The seeds from hybrids plants you grow will not germinate... But you can save the seeds from any crops of heritage seeds and plant them next grow... Most seeds have to be replenished about every 1 1/2 to 2 years for them to be viable... But seeds even many years old will have a few that will germinate... I have planted seeds that were 5 years old that had about a 10% germination rate...

Now just to make mention.. I Suggest a supply of Marijuana seeds ... I know they are illegal and it has nothing to do with the getting high part... But the plant in a survival situation can produce oil, fiber, and medicines that could make the difference of life and death in a survival situation... It has been a Prime survival crop for humans for 10,000 years... You can braid Ropes, snare lines, Tubes from the hollow stalks, and unless you heat it above 220deg you can eat it as a food supply and it will not get you high... Marijuana only becomes an intoxicant once it's heated above the boiling point...

No, its you that has drank the kool aid. How many people killed 20 children with a bicyles? It's not about how people killed themselves, its how quickly and effitivly someone can kill others!
Quickly and effectively is the best way to kill people. The morons claim that guns kill people, so why not blame bicycles and cars? No one is taking responsibility so you have to blame something. Alcohol kills more people in a month than all the assault weapons combined for 50 years. I'm talking about civilians in this country, not military or foreign countrys.

That's a good point you made about alcohol. when people started killing other people because they were driving drunk they made it illegal to drive while intoxicated. It is still illegal to buy and sell alcohol in Barbourville. The people evidently think its to dangerous. Like I said, it's not about how people kill themselves it's about how easy it is to kill others with a gun.. No one went into a school and killed 20 children with a bike. No one went into a movie theater and killed a lot of people with a car. When someone wants to massacre a lot of people they use guns most of the time...

a bus driver was killed and a child taken, what could have happened if that bus driver had a gun to maybe protect him and the child, what if someone at that school u mentioned had a gun, maybe less children would have died. We do not want the guns for mass killings and pleasure, but to protect ourself. Those pleasure killers will get their guns somewhere no mater what the law is..

OK, have you heard the latest? The government knows the ban just won't fly without a war with citizens, so they are planning a Liability Tax on all registered gun owners. They will tax guns out of range like they did cigarettes. Check it out.

I knew that was coming. They will put outrageous tax on shells too. Wait and see. The price of a box of shells will probably more than double.

IGA has a good price on Smoked Hams... A smoked ham can hang in a cool place for Years and give you a ready food source for weeks when needed... Also at the Station on 25 heading for Corbin they have plastic barrels that are great for long term storage for Flour, sugar, Meal, Oatmeal & Salt ... I put the stuff in yard & Leaf garbage bags and tie them then seal up the barrels with Wax to make sure they stay Air Tight and the stuff will be good for a couple of years.. And 3 or four make great long term water storage ... Also great to use if you have a storage space problem for your canned goods.. just seal them up and bury them so the tops about a foot down and they will not freeze over the winter and they won't rust in the sealed plastic barrels...
Also suggest getting a few survival books ... One on snares and traps and a good book on Wild Plants for food and medicinal use...
I like
"Guide to Wild Edible and Medicinal Plants" (Field Guide)by Tom Brown
"The Rural Ranger a Suburban and Urban Survival Manual & Field Guide of Traps and Snares for Food and Survival" by Ron Foster
United States Army Survival Manual by Dept of The Army
