This still doesn't fix the issue; there is not enough revenue to operate it . The recent headlines will have current members not renew with the fear that it will close and their money will not be refunded. It was apparently built with no research done or was built with disregard for what the data suggested; that a facility with this much space , this much water to heat and treat, will go out of business . Many will be leery as the media stated the center is in trouble.Someone forgot to grease the wheels of cooperation, wouldn't have taken much .. a "broken" pop machine .. a mowing service .. paint the parking lot lines a few times a year .. leaf removal for non excisting trees .. you know ... unbutton a pocket so the usual suspects can get a hand in to pick it a little.
The problems I am sure were very apparent from the start . Some are mad that the media reported on this situation ; others appear to try to argue that when the above-referenced facts are stated that the people who are commenting are "mean" to the kids and we need to be "positive" and save the pool for the kids, ect.- the point is that throwing more money in this project will not correct the problem- which arose either out of greed, complete ignorance, or self serving folks.
The pool is too expensive to maintain - not enough people - hsrd to get to - off the beaten path, not enough people paying fees , too many other exercise options , option is to close or ask barbourville utilities to heat free , give free water, electricity, find a volunteer director , volunteer employees , get insurance company to insure free ... Ask every agency to cut their budget and use their funds to subsidize - get fiscal court to contribute ...
Other option is to close it - people don't understand not about being mean - it's about the fact that it can't sustain financially - they must have known this !!
