What's wrong did u not get enough free stuff today. Water Park was free to all today. Free lunch and free snack and you complain about a.$2,00 16 oz pop. You must not notice the price you are paying in a store for a pop, oh but I forgot if your paying with good stamps you don't even have to look at prices!

It takes money to staff the waterpark, maintain the equipment, pay for water and water treatment, and clean up after the great unwashed masses. Why do people think they should get everything for free? Or for bargain prices? I will never understand this culture of entitlement.
Some things, like health care, should be available to all. I don't have a problem with Food Stamps if we are keeping the elderly and children from starving, but those are necessities for life. A freaking day at the waterpark is not!

I work every day and don't draw any government benefits but it is a fact that the barbourville city council has taken the mess that they have created out on the city's and the countys children and are going to try to make them pay for it

I am a business owner and there is so much expense involved that will never be seen by someone on the outside.
The city has to make enough money to keep the park open and they have to do it in every way possible so selling a soda at $2 is probably not something they want to do but have to do to keep the place open. I'm sure it's not done to hurt the kids. They know how much money it takes to operate and they will do what it takes to make it happen. I agree $2 is high but like I said if you're on the inside you would totally understand why the prices are set at that price. Most attraction places have accelerated prices anyway. It's always been that way and always will.
Here's an inside expense nobody would never know about at my business. I have to add a small hidden fee to every customer because the kids that hang out on Friday and Saturday nights think that my parking lot is a big huge garbage can. So It has to be cleaned on Mondays. I don't like to do that but it has to be paid some way so there you go.
If everyone that wanted to visit a water park and Barbourville didn't have one then they would have to spend $10-$20 in gas to go to Williamsburg and still would have to buy their soft drinks.

Isn't a season pass still cheaper than a babysitter? Even if you have to buy their lunch? Everyone who works there deserves a raise.

Well looking from the outside I can tell that the park has been open for years and has been able to stay open and now these council men are doing things that are hurting kids forget the water park they did try to charge little league teams not opened up that splash pad for children ran off the school resource centers to the wellness center stopped union students discounts and charge a 16 year old lifeguard 10 dollars to swin 15 min the only thing else could be to BAN 6yr olds from the watermark I bet that's coming next

Could you be specific? What mess? Paying the bills and doing it honestly and legitmately, just like you have to do?
Saying that they are making the children pay is a handy catch phrase, but it does not mean much. Parents who want free babysitting and entertainment for their children are the ones making their children do without because they somehow think the money to do those things should take precedence over other services that may be vital. They should know better if they are managing a household, but somehow they imagine taxpayer money to be a never ending resource.. Some things are priorities; others just simply cannot be if you behave responsibly.

Life isn't free. They have to make money to run the place. Unlike some others that ran the park. They have to charge everyone.

Ladies, please bathe before coming to the park to fish . If you accidentally fall in the pond , we may never get that smell out of the fish.

They have raised all the prices at the waterpark and all city services since they were elected so it doesn't matter if you have kids or not you are still are getting screwed by the city council members and mayor
