The unfair thing about credit report items...

You can pay a utility, cable or satellite bill for ten years and nothing good is mentioned on your credit report. However, if they say you owe, it goes straight to your credit report. Is that BS or what? If they can report the negative then they should HAVE TO REPORT THE GOOD. A satellite company said I owed them $22 bucks for return shipping and gave me a bad report to the credit bureaus. I had been a good customer for 8 years but that was not mentioned. I finally got it straightened out but it makes me mad. Old, invalid medical bills are the same way. Your insurance pays the original bill but those greedy medical companies try to get more, and even when you show proof the bill was paid, they usually give you a negative report to the credit bureaus. This causes you major problems when you try to get credit to buy a car, etc. The way this stuff is reported is totally unfair and needs changed.

Actually you have 3 types of reports, most places do not look much into medical bills when you are buying some thing or financing , I have ran them for ppl for years we don't look Into the bills from medical because every one owes medical bills, if u have good credit then you wouldn't worry but even if those cable companies and such put the paid on those type of bills do not add up to much it would take 10 years for one of those to raise or drop your credit report much at all .

Thank you for your comment. My only experience with medical bills--and any negative affect on credit--came when I tried to buy a house about 15 years ago. The mortgage company said there was a delinquent $347.00 medical bill on my credit report. I showed the mortgage company proof that my insurance had paid the "customary, reasonable. normal" amount to the medical company. That was not good enough for the mortgage company. I then contacted the medical company but got nowhere. I contacted the credit bureau and they said I could add a "comment" to my credit report disputing the fact that I owed this bill. The mortgage company said this was not good enough for them either. So, in order to get the mortgage, I had to pay that BS bill. I had no other choice. For the life of me, I have never been able to figure out why the mortgage company was so worried about that BS medical being paid before they would finance my home. Doesn't make any sense but it happened to me and I'm sure others have had this same issue.
