Some punk bet the hell out of a girl and slammed her on the pavement. He also punched some young kid in the face I came out of the store just as the cops were rolling up. the girl was knocked out laying on the pavement and the boy was covered in blood.

I would like to ask the people on Topix a question. Why do we as parents have to supply the teachers with school supplies? The list are getting longer and longer each year. We as parents supply the ( children ) with Clorox wipes and hand santizer, tissues, copy paper , expo markers. Also I understand the purpose of note books pencils and colors. But this is getting ridiculous and we do pay school taxes on about everything we purchase. I fill so sorry for parents trying to supply for a big family. doesn't the state furnish anything for the teachers? Some one please explain this to me.

I totally agree with everything you have said, this is completely crazy. I of course dont know how old you are , or if you are old enough that you paid any attention to elections but when the Lottery was voted on one of the big things the State had going for them to help get it voted in was that some of the profits were supposedly going to go to the school systems. I am sure the $ amount there would cause us to lose our breath for a few minutes.

It's a shame Ky'S children have to depend on gambling to get an education. No wonder our children are so far behind other states.

I have also wondered about the supplies for kids.I hear the teachers say they spend out of their own pockets, what do they spend it on if us parents have to even supply markers.Im sure my kids don't never get to use hand sanitizer.I was told last year the reason they want wipes bought to keep sickness down,.well im here to say my son was home sick more last year then he has been in his life. What does the kids use zip lock bags for, cups and paper towels for?Im sure these teachers are stocked well at home with bags, cups, paper towels.Im sure the teachers use the hand stuff for themself

Hmmm...well lets see, they eat snack at school sometimes, so I'm thinking maybe they might use those paper towels, cups and plates at that time. Markers are used to draw and write with. Yep, they might use those at times, too. Ziplock bags are used to store things, and I bet the students have actually used them to out things in and take things out of during math lessons or maybe art projects. I'm going to hazard a guess that they might actually use hand sanitizer before lunch or eating that snack or maybe even after using the bathroom or blowing their noses on the tissues that those teachers actually had the audacity to ask for. Pathetic.

people only look at certain post. too much garbage to go through and this is the only way they could get anyone to look at the school supply. this would be a good site if it was used for the good of the community instead of slandering the community.

The only question I have is...I'm 40 years old and we never had school supply lists when I went to school. We had everything we needed. We had notebooks for each subject, pencils, and whatever we needed. But it was t the discretion of the parents, not the teachers. Those teachers back then, used the classroom money for student supplies. Not, to make their rooms look pretty. We need to get back to that. Some parents can't afford these lists, especially when they have 2 or 3 kids. And before anyone gives an opinion about getting a job, trying working at minimum wage and buying all this nonsense. If parents don't have great paying jobs they can't afford this. It's hard with 2 working parents. I can't imagine single moms, who have it rough. These teachers need to realize these lists are ridiculous.
