AN inmate was ignored in the Knox County Jail. Now he's in the Hospital in a coma, If this man had received medical attention from day one of his arrest this could've been avoided. When is it enough. What in the hell is going on at the Knox County jail. U just don't ignore a person because they've been arrested.i pray that this man gets better.

What was the inmate in jail for? When someone gets put into jail, should they be given a full tax payer medical exam? I don't know who or what you are talking about, but the JAIL is there to house people who have BROKE the law until they can go before a judge to decide what their fate will be. To my knowledge it is not the jail or tax payers job to baby sit! You said "from day one of his arrest" IDIOT, if he had gone to the doctor on that day instead of breaking the law, then he MAY not be in a "coma". I guess it is the jails fault that he broke the law as well?

I total agree,If the employee's cant do the job then shut it down. If u can't see that an inmate needs medical attention. Then u need to find a new job. close down the Knox County Jail.

I don't know who u are but for the record. It the jail responsible for an inmate when they walk through the door. I think the Governor needs to know about this and what goes on at the jail. No he diddn't need a baby sitter he need medical attention. U hollow break the law. The police break the law every day and they are they swear to u hold the law. u must work at the court house . How many people have died in the Knox County Jail. FOr u info. this man had insurance the county wouldn't have to be out one penny smart ass if they would have took him to the doctor.

being someone who has worked at a jail as a nurse. I can agree with you if they cant see that they need medical care then they should not be there. Also they { the inmate } could someday be a family member to some of you and would you want them to be denied medical care. Jails for the most part do not hire medical staff the are contracted in which means its all about the money. I nolonger work for the " Jail " for this reason. The treat peoplle worse than you would treat animals, most animals are treated better.

Why cant you tell us this persons name and how long he had been in jail? If he had insurance/medical card why didnt he go to the doctor prior to becoming an inmate?? Help us out a little please or else we are to assume their condition has to do with drug withdrawl!! Before you bite our heads off at least give us some background info so we dont have to do so much guess work. I have said this before it is left up to the inmate to let the jailers know the types, amounts & times of any drugs that have been consumed prior to their arrest if any were being used.

We really should see to it that they put saunas and spas in there for the inmates. That would reduce their stress. We should get rid of strict and stern cell keepers and replace them with massage therapists there's no point in letting our inmates be uncomfortable, that's just inhumane. Don't you people have hearts? Every inmate should be seen by a doctor and treated for what's ailing them before they put them away and lock their cells. That way they can sleep more comfortably knowing they're in good and caring hands. They could do this when they delouse them. Do they even still delouse inmates these days? While they're at it, I firmly believe they should give them a thorough eye and dental exam as well. It's not right to risk them having a tooth ache or being unable to see the television while they're there. Who could be so cold hearted as to even think of putting the inmates there through that? Tooth aches hurt. Not being able to see tv is annoying. What about hearing exams. I bet statistically over 50 percent of them could use a nice expensive set of hearing aids too. I'm tired of hearing how badly our jail is, and no I don't work there, never did. I refuse to work there until they get Olympic sized swimming pools for the inmates! For criminey sakes.

wait until some of ur family gets in jail. u have no heart if this was ur son u would be outraged. calling the governor. just because a person gets arrested. that doesn't mean that the knox county jail can kill this person. u can be healthy and fine one second and in another second have a heart attack and die just look at the knox county jail how fast he passed away. u are one sick freak. ur talking like u need all these thing for ur self. i bet u don't even pay taxes probably on ssi or welfare. u have a good one freak.ur family probably sells drugs too.

It's no wonder Knox county is like a wasteland. Good heart-ed, understanding citizens such as this idiot. I would just assume be in a prison camp in Iran, as to be in Knox co. jail.

A bunch of us should E-mail each other, and call Frankfort about this. If enough complaints are made, they'll step in. As they indeed should.

Indeed. A taliban POW who killed a dozen of our men could sue our government for a million and get it if he had to sleep on a concrete floor without a shower for a week ( especially over something that gets dismissed when it goes to court )or have the jailers come in the cell and threaten to stomp his guts out ( this was some 18 year old kid who was a thief but scared of his own shadow ) I would hate to spend any time there. God help you if you have any open cuts in there. I know jail is a punishment, but like the guy said earlier, a guy who gets a ticket should get better treatment than a terrorist, especially in his hometown

From all the bitching on here sounds like if you have family members with drug problems or diabetes that you are the one that needs to set them down and have a talk with them! Stress to them that if they are caught and arrested that they must inform the arresting officer of their condition. Most drugheads try to beat the system and will not speak up and tell the truth about their drug problem for fear of doing more time. Some drugheads will swallow every pill in their posession when pulled over, a person with diabetes should have a family member that would come forward and bring them their medications if they were arrested. If you have a family member that is arrested and they have a drug problem then march yourself down to the jail and speak with the person in charge and let them know that the inmate may start gong thru withdrawal, unless YOU speak up how are the employees going to know?

You are a f_cking heartless idiot. It could be you in there needing medical treatment and then what would you say about it when you are lying back there dying and there is no one that will help you. And yes, it really could happen to you or anyone else. That is unless you work at the courthouse or are in with the click. You are probably one of these self-righteous hypocrites that think they are a saint, aren't you? People like you will get your reward but for your sakes, I hope that it is better than being in the Knox County jail.

I will ask the question ONCE AGAIN! What are these "sick" people in jail FOR? A jail is NOT a hospital, it is NOT a daycare, it is a JAIL. And yes the staff has a responsibility, but these days, most are arrested for drugs, and I would think that it would be hard to tell a dope head on a crash from a truly "sick" person! SO Knox County, get over your welfare, foodstamp, tax-payer's owe me EVERYTHING attitude, take some responsibility and MAYBE, you and your "loved ones" would not be in jail. And you "concerned" citizens won't have to take time away from your "busy schedules" of watching tv, smoking pot/meth and ignoring your children, to have to get on topic and cry, b!tch, cry, b!tch..........
