Absolutely. Knox County gov't and schools for certain are replete with corruption.

Schools in particular are loaded with people who have large expense accounts and take lavish trips-yet our kids struggle in class with no textbook to take home and poor facilities.

In my opinion, criminal and immoral.

I don't think anyone around here would have the guts to try that....be in jail really fast.....or run out of town.

your first move would to be to contact an attorney to create a nonprofit and a mission statement and article of incorporation. This would give it some traction and create away to fund the group.

you would not have the authority to control discussions directly in the school, but you could help make the public more aware of issues and that might change things indirectly through raised public awareness. This could even be part of your mission statement. If you form a nonprofit i will join you and even donate some money.

I agree. It would not be to control any policy but to review what decisions are being made and to track purchases. Nothing controversial but an outlet to inform and verify things.

Who among our professionals would everyone recommend to be part of the group?

I think we need:
Attorney
Business Owners
Teacher
Accountant
Engineer
Minister
etc. to be part of the group. I know we like to complain about things but this is something that could make a difference in our community.

Pleas list names of people who you think would be interested in volunteering and let's see if we can get something off the ground.

Those are the people that should be excluded from being members! except for accountant and attorney. The accountant and lawyer should be hired from out of state if possible, the rest of the members should be parents and people with no ties what so ever to the school systems presently or previously.

YOU DON'T APPOINT PEOPLE FROM THE INSIDE TO MONITOR PEOPLE WITHIN AN ORGANIZATION. LIKE THE FOX WATCHING THE HEN HOUSE!

I would hope that we have a few professionals around that would be honest. I thought it would be a good idea to have someone from each profession to assist with their expertise.

Your thoughts?

Terrible idea. That is the reason the schools are soo bad now. people that run the town have family members that work in the school systems. This whole area is completely corrupt, and that is why their is a need for something like this to start with. We just need regular people in a group with a little bit of common sense, not insiders.

We don't need a watch group be your own watch dog. Get you a gun and keep it loaded and be ready when the thieves come. If you called the police they most likely wouldn't even come. I don't know why but they seem to support the thieves instead of the citizens of Knox Co. Get you a big real dog that will bite too.

If most of the people that have got killed lately due to drugs had got the right punishment in court they wouldn't be dead today. If they don't have room for them in jail put them in some kind of work program where they have to report and if they don't abide by the rules back to jail you go.

You dont really think any decisions are made at the meetings that are open to the public? You really arent to specefic on what you want to watch either. I would think any public figure would not care to be associated with a topix formed watchdog group. Possibly move your topic to an open facebook page. But I do agree with the concept .. and the fox in the henhouse comment.
