I signed up for the "free 30 day trial" which really costs $9 because of 'processing' which seemed a little ridiculous as it's supposed to be 'free'. But $9 for 30 days?.. How can you pass that up?
I wish they did have showers and regular lockers but they do a pretty good job looking out for your stuff. There's actually like 12 cameras inside and you need a member keycard to get in. So if your stuff was stolen they can see who did it and check surveillance to see who they are from entering the door earlier as all keycards are synced up to a member's information. And i've actually seem the computer monitor with the video feeds playing on it. Can't remember if t was 12 or maybe 16. They also have cameras outside for the parking lot and door.
It isn't a threatening environment. There doesn't seem to be that many 'macho men/women' that are intimidating. They have stuff everywhere for you to wipe down the equipment after you use it, and there's staff that go around and wipe off machines, dust the machines, answer any questions.
The parking can be a bit ridiculous if it is one of their busier times but honestly i think they did the best they could with the location. There are two unisex bathrooms and two unisex changing rooms which seem to be enough for the members. I do suggest they offer some free classes for the members, maybe after the adjoining therapy center is closed so they can use the big room. And maybe have a vending machine with gatorades and waters and other of those kinds of drinks? That way it's there if we forget to bring something. But the water fountain on site is always an option.
They have trainers that you can sign up for a free fitness consultation and they will explain different machines to you. For individual trainer sessions it is $35/hr. It's not cheap but it's not too horribly expensive. The trainer i use (Chris) is very encouraging and seems like he really cares. I hope it's not just an act but it does the trick when i'm there.
After my 30 day trial i will have to decide whether to continue there or not. Membership is $35 a month with no contract. Membership at Absolute is $40 a month for an individual without a contract. At Absolute, the daycare is a good perk and Idk if they have a locker room w/ showers or not but that would be another perk. But i really think i'll stay with Snap. They are open 24/7. It is a small gym and i'm sure if i was a bit more outgoing i'd make a bunch of friends. The staff seems very friendly and they take time to talk to you if you seem to have questions. It's a very comfortable gym with all new equipment. They provide towels for the sweat-monsters out there too.
I say give it a shot. They offer a free week, Idk if they charge any 'processing fee' for that one. Or do the 30 days for $9 ( seriously? How can you pass that up just to try? A single day pass at Absolute is $10)
