I grew up with Donnell and knew him very well. Yeah we all knew he was a criminal, not saying that to slam him I liked him personally that is just what he was. He wasn't shy about telling this to others either from what i observed.
Donnell did not need to be a criminal, don't try pinning it on society. I grew up poor too and have NO police record. Donnell like so many others just did it because it seemed cool and was easy money. Nobody to blame for Donnells life but Donnell.
I have seen many people like donnell play with fire and loose, loose badly ! Criminals in akron just don't have enough impulse control, resources and smarts to make it big as a criminal. The same can be said of almost all criminals elsewhere. You can't even control yourself around a girl donnell how are you going to pull off big scores on the streets ?
As a black man myself I have no sympathy for Donnell ( didn't know the girls) even though we got a long well. Donnell probably would have told you himself that this or a prison cell would be how things would probably end for him, but he didn't care. Or if he did it wasn't enough in the end.
