Had the opportunity to walk thru a 1 1/2 building in Columbus. There are issues with the HVAC, the floors are cracked, doors that won't open. and a host of other problems. Yes the general contractor is a union shop but Columbus Schools requirement for minority contractors (non union) really did this job in. I guess you get what you pay for.

Ohio's Prevailing Wage Law is not what one would think. Only The unions determine the wage rate. Local Merit Shop wages are not concidered. The unions in many cases work at a lower rate on private projects. But because the dems are bought off by the unions the public projects typically cost more than private projects. Some of the funds that are received by the unions though prevailing wage projects is funneled back to the dems. Just another reason we need SB-5, to take the union out of the management process. If teachers want to complain about waste, than Prevailing Wages would be a good place to start. Teachers are led to believe that SB-5 is an attack on them, but it is an attempt to limit the union from dictating policies other than wage & benefits for the members of that union. Anyone who states otherwise are trying to change the subject and or are being dishonest.
