Fantastic idea! Most doctor's offices and pharmacies tell you to flush them. Scares the heck out of me to think of how many people and how many different perscriptions end up in the water sources.

I agree.

My question: what took us so long to realize that putting unused medicines into our water supply wasn't such a good idea?

Testing has found residual drugs in drinking water supplies, and most industrialized countries have had for decades formal programs to dispose of unused medicines.

I worry about that stuff, often. I don't have the facts enough to know what is in the water and what amounts, or how it can effect us. But, it just doesn't seem possible to be able to filter out all of it, if drugs are chemically based. But then, there is the bleach, detergents, bowl cleaners, ect.

It took a long time to get used to well water again. City water tasts like chemicals to me now. But, I am still considering installing the reverse osmosis next week.
