Oh sick and tired, why don't you go EABOD.

Halloween's been around since you were a kid (unless you're an old coot).

Get over it.

Unless you're just trolling, in which case, carry on, my wayward son.

Well its pretty clear your someone who lives off of tax payers as well. If you read my post i dont care about giving candy. In fact what I was saying is parents dropping kids off in other towns isn't the problem nor is candy its the long line of things to follow. I am in my late twenties and when i was a kid my mother wouldn't allow me to be that greedy. Around my own home was enough. My mother cared about what i ate and not getting obiest as a child. If reply try typing in english not slang i didn't learn that at my school....

Obviously, your mother cared about your edumacation as much as she cared about you becoming obiest.

I agree that dropping your kids off from the next town over is wrong. But candy isn't exactly a staple in the child's diet - it's more of a waste of gas to do that than to get a free bag of candy. I'm sure the MAJORITY of people agree with that logic, and as such, don't drive their kids from three towns over.

Except for me. I celebrate trick-or-treating with my family up in Allentown on the Friday before Halloween (as it has been my whole life [I'm 26, for the record]). I will be taking my child trick-or-treating for her first time, however, only on my parents' street, where they already know us. Then I will return back to my parents' house, and continue to scare the bejeesus out of your children. It's what I do, year after year after year.

And then on Halloween, my family from Allentown will be coming back to Spring City with me, where we will do the same thing down here. And my daughter will trick-or-treat in our community as well.

I know, I'm so greedy. And my child is so obiest.

And now, you can go EABOD.

Well your mother must not have cared very much for you going to school at all its education not edmucation.... Listen I am a mother myself also 26 and i am all for children i repeat children walking with thier parents and trick or treating they are who its for... Not for parents who dont feel like watching thier kids to drive all over and drop them off BIGGER kids not 2yr olds and leave them to damage others decorations. If you love halloween so much, would you not be furious to find your things taken or destroyed. Things you did for children. Yes i think you would. On top of it you cant do anything about it when they came from 4 towns away. I think kids should enjoy all holiday traditions its thier memories for a life time. BUT they should hold those memories with thier parents and loved ones. Not memories of destroying things and stealing little kids candy bags (do you read the paper or listen to the news older kids stealing other childrens candy even with thier parents rite there)with thier friends. No respect for no one. Those are the people i'm talking about, not a mother who cares enough to go with thier little ones and show them traditions and give them a smile.

I was just wondering why you have trick or treating on designated dates and times. I live in CT and we trick or treat on Oct 31st rain or shine with no time consraints. I'm just curious as to why you do that in your area and how it started.

Learned a big lesson this past "Trick or Treat" night. Lehighton held Trick or Treat on this past Wednesday night, from 6pm to 8pm. I don't understand why it was on a school night, but I guess it's not for us residents to decide this. After spending a small fortune on candy, and stuffing little bags to hand out, we had all of 4 kids show up for Trick or Treat. Next year the porchlight will stay off, and no candy will be bought.

I can only speak for Allentown here...

Basically, it's because we used to have our Halloween parties in schools on the Friday before Halloween. The teachers would let us get dressed up in our costumes, have our parades, let us eat sugar-laden snacks, and send us home on a sugar high, not having to worry about dealing with us until the following Monday.

Parents figured we were already in costumes and makeup from school, why should they go through all of that work putting us together on Halloween, when we were already dressed.'Sides, if we trick-or-treated on a Friday night, we had all weekend for homework and projects...

I say "we" and "us" because it's been this way for my entire lifetime.

Now that most kids no longer have Halloween parties in schools (because of religious reasons and health reasons [gluten-free diets, various food allergies, etc]), it kind of doesn't make sense to continue having trick or treating on the Friday before Halloween. But Allentown is pretty big on tradition, and unless a lot of people make a fuss and petition to have it changed, it's going to stay the way it is.

I don't care if my daughter trick or treats on Halloween or some other day the city deems. As long as she gets the experience, that's enough for me. I took her for her first time this year, and she had a BALL. Lots of pictures, and lots of memories - that's what Halloween is about for me.

...well, that and scaring the crap out of your kids with the rest of my Allentown family...

Daily Horoscope for November 23

Leo

The Moon and Neptune smooch in your seventh house of marriage and partnership today, making you long for a dream lover. It's easy to imagine that a frog is really a prince or princess today because reality is not what you're looking for in a partner at the moment. On the other hand, a very spiritual, ideal relationship can be a reality under this influence. It all depends on your state of mind.
