What a great way to choose a "qualified" person to fill the position. Joe Capozzolo has been AWOL as Mayor of Bangor since 2002. Now he is qualified to sit on County Council simply because he's the last man standing in the room! Drive around Bangor and try to find some of the Mayors accomplishments. You'll be hard pressed to find one!

As I recall, Joe Capozzola represented Waste Management/Grand Central Sanitation's attempt to widen the road between its landfill and Wind Gap Borough financed with a Northampton County Grant.

Before Northampton County Councilman was stripped of his responsibilities as that body's vice president and finance committee chair, he was coerced by his council cohorts to resign from his position as president of the Bangor Area School District, on a charge of "conflict of interest."

Yet Capozzola, council's newest member, is allowed to serve on that body and as Bangor mayor concurrently.

As Bangor Borough Mayor and Northampton County Councilman, Capozzola is in stronger strategic position to get council's and a reluctant BASD's approval of KOZ tax-emption for Monroe County developer Todd Miller's Bangor Trust Co. building and adjacent properties.

Bernie's Blog said that Joe C was a brother-in-law of Ron Angle. I don't believe it, I know Ron once dated a Capozzolo, tried to take her for every thing she had. Ron also dated a third cousin once.

Convince me that Northampton County is not racist. When at-large Councilwoman Mary T. Ensslin and the counties District 3 representative Michael Corriere resigned, creating two unexpired vacancies, applicants for those slots included an African-American, Bruce Gilbert, and a Latino, Tim Cuevas.

When applicants Douglas Dodge and I learned that Gilbert and Cuevas were applicants, Dodge and I withdrew our applications and threw our support to the two minority candidates in the name of racial diversity on county council.

Last night council had the opportunity again to add to its membership two minority candidates, Bruce Gilbert again and Esther Lee, both African-Americans.

Instead, council chose two candidates who had lost their bids in the general election, Tony Branco and Lamont McClure.

Joe Capozzolo is becoming the best voice on county council. His wisdom, personality and sense of humor have changed that body into a class act. Keep up the good work Joe Cap!
