Apparently your sources are wrong. There is a security camera facing Miss Wyhowski's office and the instrument storage room. The tapes were reviewed and NEVER did a student enter the office when Miss Wyhowski was not present. As far as the school is concerned, it was on her desk the whole time covered by clutter. Miss Wyhowski MISPLACED the instrument and falsely accused the student. And there is more to the story than just an instrument. There were numerous derogatory statements about her job in general that were found.
Hopefully this was a learning experiece for her and she will grow up before trying to teach more kids.

I went to school with the band teacher and she is really a good person. She is only 23 years old--why did a school hire a 23 year old to direct a band? They must have been desperate and she obviously is not mature enough to handle it. That is exactly why you do NOT put all of your business on facebook, myspace ect. You never know who is listening or reading, for that matter.
I am a young teacher, who happens to teach music as well. You can be a great teacher...even if you are young. It's pretty lousy to make such a general statement about someone because they are aren't a 20 year veteran teacher.

I have known Morgan for 5 years. She is the most honest & caring person I know. She is passionate about music and being a band teacher was her life long dream. I admit what she id was stupid. Was it cause for her to be forced out of a job that she loved? NO!!!!. Should she have been reprimanded? Probably Yes!
The students loved her, and if anybody could turn around a band program that has been pathetic for years, she was the one to do it. Her passion for the program and the kids was unmatched!
It is unfortunate that the administration cowed under to an ignorant parent who was trying save her daughter's reputation of being called a thief. My sources at the school tell me that she indeed was a thief!
I wish the remaining faculty good luck when they have an administration that is more worried about one whinny, ignorant,& scorned "parent", then what is for the good of the students in the long run!
Good Luck Morgan, I wish you well!!
you don't know the full story, so keep your opinions to yourself

You apparently did not read the comments on prior pages from "Bangor Mom," who admitted that her daughter took the piccolo "because her instrument was at the repair shop." If she had permission, the director would not have accused her of stealing. Per the parent's own admission, the piccolo was taken.

It doesn't matter if there were other "numerous derogatory statements" made about the teacher. That does not result in a teacher's termination mid-year. She would have to be proven to show gross incompetence in the classroom, or some violation of law.

Wow. This is unbelievable. A young woman is out of a job because of Facebook? Did Morgan invite you to look at her page? It clearly sounds like you were trying to find some sort of attention or drama. Or maybe you have nothing better to do than cyber-stalk your child’s teachers?
What I have seen (or not seen as the case may be) after reading 166 posts; you still have no solid proof that your daughter wasn’t in some fashion involved with the missing instrument. Maybe it was a temporary thing, maybe it was misplaced, maybe she got scared and put it back—who knows for sure? The comment on Facebook was clearly an expression of the Morgan’s frustration for a missing $900 item that ultimately is paid for by the taxpayers of the community.
What the news story didn’t tell is the outpouring of concern from friends, fellow teachers, students and parents in the community who all feel for Morgan (also on Facebook). Morgan’s character is clearly defined by the people who know her best. I hope you feel real proud of your efforts—proud that band students no longer have a director with the level of passion for music and teaching that Morgan has. Proud that you put an educator out of a job because she was concerned about the school losing what she deemed was an important component of the band. Oh, yes—and proud of your comments on this forum. I must say you seem to be an incredibly fit parent and role model.
One more note: Morgan’s Facebook quote has been, and still is:
“I'm very blessed because I am one of the few people in this world that actually loves their job. ♥”

It's true! She loved her job and had much pride for what she wanted to do with that program! Hopefully someone else can do as good a job as she was going to do with that program....
