She deserves everything she has coming to her. If you are an educator of any kind, you would think that you would definately know the dangers and problems that can arrise from social networking sites. I use both facebook & myspace for social networking, but none of my pages has anythiing questionable as far as comments or pictures.
As a matter of fact a lot of my coworkers and even my boss has it too and laughs about some of the pics I post. Its not a big deal and can be fun if you use these sites properly! A lot of the younger kids simply dont though!
That's the problem w/these sites, though. "Questionable" is always just a matter of opinion. Who knows what the next potential employer might think is or isnt funny? Just be careful everyone!

I personally know Morgan and was privvy to her Facebook page. What she said was a very general statement with no names involved. Maybe if the parent who started this whole thing would step up to the plate as a parent and hold their child accountable this would have never come to the horrible tragedy of Bangor Schools losing a terrific Band Director. The students are paying the price of one student who did wrong!!
Morgan is wonderful and whoever hires her in the future will have no regrets.

I do not know what was said,Wish we had the full story. But it had to be really bad to have this happen to her.Even So, I do not see how they can do this even with the freedom of speech act. If you call the cop's and tell them that (so and so)said they were going to kill you, They would probably tell you they cannot do anything until they actually act on it, In other words until they actually try to kill you, there's nothing they can do because no crime has been commited. So just to say somthing to someone makes no sense to me.

There were NEVER any threats made against anyone. There was NEVER any time where a student now or in the future was put into any danger. Oh how I wish everyone knew what was said!

Stupid people. People do not understand that those social networking sites are trouble waiting to happen. A guy that I work with was fired earlier in the year for posting that he wanted his boss dead on his Myspace.
Don't be dumb, keep it in your head.

I am a Bangor parent and what I am wondering is if she was put on administrative leave December 30th, why are Bangor parents just now hearing about it? What makes it worse is we hear about it not through the school but through a newscast. This is the problem with Bangor schools, never are we informed of everything unless it is done via newscast or our children coming home and telling us.
It's not just Bangor schools....gotta love the public education system!

As I said in my previous post, I am a Facebook user and actually read what she wrote. I will not betray her trust and post it here, however.

I hate to say it because I don't know the facts either, but it sounds like and "easy out". Maybe even a set up in fact. Some people these days would do or say anything about a teacher they don't like to get them removed.

I have seen the pettiness before. My son is in early elementary and is in a class with an awesome teacher, and that teacher gets phone calls from a parent daily telling him/her how bad he is and that he doesn't know how to teach. He has been teaching for 20 years!

We will have to see the facts, but it doesn't sound warranted from here, unless it was a threat or something. Facebook can make things sound out of context as well, so watch what you post!

Then most people will assume that it was something very very wrong. Its human nature to always expect the worst. Come on spill the beans FriendOf... I assume she said some of her students were HOT!!!

Yeh right,Does not matter anyway. The news just reported that she resigned and they eccepted it. Sounds kind of stupid to me, Because they did not even start the investigation yet.

Hi Jeremy, this is your boss. I do not like the fact that you just called me stupid, or telling me what I understand or don't understand. Since just about everyone in my family also utilizes Facebook, MySpace, etc., you have also insulted them. YOU'RE FIRED!
I have forwarded a copy of this incident to every employer and potential customer in our industry. I have included a notation stating that you also believe that you have free will (along with the ability to express an opinion) outside of the workplace and that you will require extensive "re-training" for you to think otherwise. HEIL!
Think about that for a few.(If you don't, I'll send the thought-police over.)
The thought-police? i think you've watched/read "1984" too many times.

It is too bad the "Real Americans" can't spell or use correct grammar. You must be one of Sarah Palin's "Read Americans".

I suspect that she resigned hoping that would allow things to settle down. Some people on Topix are already jumping to conclusions assuming the worst when they have no knowledge of the facts. No matter what she posted on Facebook, the perception of whether or not it was appropriate is very subjective. Many will assasinate her character wothout knowing the facts.

Then your writing in is just a way to? Draw some attention to yourself? Try to help a friend without having to put it on the line? It seems more helpless than helpfull. But, I wish her luck if she is innocent, as she is being hung in the "media".

My daughter is a part of this band and the last few months with Ms. W has been a great experience! She will be missed by my daughter and I know that what she had done was inappropriate, but she was a good person. I feel bad that it came down to this..I wish her good luck...

Very True, I was curious to why she resigned without a investigation, It could have not been that bad.
