Preparation of the site is moving very quickly Store will probably be built in less time than it took to get approvals from South Haven to build the store! That corner looks better already-was nothing but an eyesore to the entrance to the City.

It is definitely a plus to the City of South Haven in more ways than one.

And let's not forget our friends, The Murks. If it's stays on schedule it will open in 2014. It was originally scheduled for 2013. I put the delay at VM's doorstep. We're not on a total boycott anymore, but they still see less of our $$ than they used to.

Yesterday's money went to Meijer in Kzoo and Holland. Money that would have gone to VM before they
went stupid.

Yea, this s great! Our Ward is having a great time! Excessive noise, disel fumes, grime sticking to our homes. I guess it is time to move as neither City or Meijer will pick up tab for property damage! Oh but we can't as now our property value is crap. How about building a wall on the west side of Blue star?

This sounds like someone who was a Village Market supporter. A South Haven person who wants to stop progress.

I AM A TRUE SOUTH HAVEN SUPPORTER! My gripe with Meijer has to do with it's local. It is too large to be so close to a quiet residental neighborhood. Phoenix and Blue Star have to be changed. Who will maintain the chopped up changes that will have to happen to those roads? It is not City. The State won't! Look at the mess down by Wal-Mart and how many years it took to get a light there. There were much safer locations here to choose from. Most locals arn't aware, if left unchecked...South Haven will loose it's north east neighborhoods. The City of South Haven has only about 3 square miles to start with. Our City Hall seems to be pushing for our city to be all commercial and vacation rentals.
As far as I'm concerned...Murk screwed himself long before Meijer was part of the picture. I will say, I miss the old Hardings and Jack's grocery stores.
My concerns have to do with being PRO SOUTH HAVEN>>>not "TEAM MEIJER..TEAM VILLAGE"

It all really comes down to what the people want and they have spoken loud and clear. I feel for the people who say it will be more of a nuisance than a benefit. Also if you look on your warranty deed to your property you will see subject to. It usually states noises and similar things along those lines.

Multiple choices. America has changed in many ways over the last 30 years. The baby boom generation wants convenience. Mom ansd pop stores dont serve all the needs as the big retailers do. There are people in South Haven that complained even when wal-mart was going to open, and now they complain about meijers.Ive ben to towns half the size of South Haven and they still had a store like wal -mart.A meijers store may spark more businesses to South Haven. Wal-Mart did. Go back to 1990 and see how many restaurants and hotels existed on Phoenix before wal-mart was built. It all changed afterwards. Im sure there will be benefit for local people who have been out of work. Or do some of you prefer to drive to K'zoo, Holland or Bentor Harbor to shop?

As expressed above, the English language is no longer important in our schools.
