Why aren't these three thugs being tried for "hate crimes" and murder? They have committed a heinous crime.

I think the person that was found guilty for this horrendous crime should be given a sentence that would last 18 years past the time of complete recovery of the person that was beaten.
God made us different colors as he did the mountains and he loves all of us. What gives anyone the right to harm anyone and especially you parents who in the home are teaching children not to respect one another and I mean respect all people of all races.
When I was young I had a birthday party and invited all my class.
My dad always sat behind a newspaper-I think he was pretending to read but was listening very carefully.
One of the young girls said to a friend of mine who was dark, I was white, why is your skin black.
My dad came out from behind his newspaper, tore a small piece off the corner and put it on the centre of our dining room table. He said ok, everyone stand around the table and put your hand palm down on the table. He put the piece of the newspaper in the centre and said what color is the paper, everyone said white. Then he went and touched each persons hand and showed them no one was white. He finished by saying no one is white we are all a shade of brown.
I always remembered that lesson thru life and it taught me to treat all equal.--A good lesson for all parents.
However it doesnt matter the color if someone is bad, and you know it you must rise above that and not associate with them.
This young gentleman was working that was beaten, a good person growing up in the right direction to be a credit to the community. All three of the offenders who participated in this crime and their parents should receive counselling and the one convicted should serve time in jail until the victim returns to a stable life and then add the 18 years
to that.
As I said I am white and respect all people who are good citizens and are bringing their children up properly with respect for others.
