My grandfather had a restaurant called "The Brass Rail"
during the time of the shooting in Bangor.
He showed me many pics of that day.
Does any one remeber the restaurant, I would love to hear from you.

Was your grandfather's name Harry James? My parents knew him from New Brunswick, and we used to stop at the restaurant each year on vacation.

I remember the Brass Rail. I was a little boy when my parents would go to Bangor from Presque Isle for the weekend. We always stayed at the Queen City Motel in Brewer and we dined at The Brass Rail often. I remember the long brass rail which was a footrest for people who state on stools at the counter, and always assumed the restaurant was named for that brass rail. My parents and I always sat at a booth. Mom and Dad really enjoyed dining there. I am probably talking from about 1953 to 1958 or so here. Hmmmmmm...good memories. I infer that the restaurant has been gone for decades.
