My family bought food from here for dinner, and it was not impressive at all. I'm from California and we have great BBQ locally. Tri Tip would beat the pants off of this places BBQ easy.
The brisket was soooooo dry. Godawful dry. Granted that might be because my sister in law ordered the lean cut. Don't order the lean cut. I don't use BBQ sauce, which did not help matters.
The bread was decent but nothing special. I don't eat beans, so I can't attest to those.
Do yourself a favor and eat elsewhere. It's way better tasting for the same type of food.
Saying this is real BBQ is like saying McDonalds is a homemade hamburger. They're not the same thing.

Not bad, but not great either. The food was mediocre at best. I had the Beef Brisket, which looked great, but was very bland. Yes, it had a great smoky aroma and flavor, but no seasoning of any kind. It was just smoky meat.

I ended up having to drench it in their home-made BBQ sauce to get it taste good.

The pickles, looked delicious, but ended up having some weird licorice flavor to it. Looked great, tasted terrible. I even tried a second one, just because it looked so darn good.

Lastly I had the smoked sausage. Looked and tasted like something I bought at the store and stuck on my grill for a tad too long. Overcooked and dry.

Holy crap! Did I come on a off-day???

The first sign that something was "off" was the lack of people. Lack meaning zero, zilch, nada. That is if you don't count for the employees. Seriously folks, its not like I came during off-peak hours. No this was during prime, San Antonio lunch time consuming hours.

So anyhoo, my girl and I decide to visit this place just to see what the hoopla was all about. Immediately when we arrived you can smell the bbq. Man it was good! And we haven't even gone inside yet! Oh did I fail to mention that I got to park in the very front of the building? Wow this was my lucky day!Its my lucky day! Little did I know there was NOBODY inside hahahahahha! OK, moving on...

We ordered the a family pack. I figure this would be a good start since I've never been there plus this is a good way to sample the goods.

The restaurant itself is really small, ample seating some outdoors and really hard to get to. Aesthetically, the place is really nice to look at. You really don't get that 'mom and pop' vibe or that fast food of Bill Millers. Plus it helps that this location is not located in a shopping center. If you blink you might just miss it.

OK, the food. Thats why we're here right? Let me break this out in 3 sections:

Sauce
Entree
Sides

Sauce - This was probably the only thing that was consistent all the way across the board. If you love wet sauce then you won't be let down. I still think Rudy's bbq sauce is king. Shit that damn sauce belongs in its own food group!

Entree - We got pork ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sausage and chicken thighs.

Wow where do I begin??? OK for as nice as a place this is and how good their sauce is I was FLOORED at how bad some of the food was. Let me start with the chicken. It was weird. Yes, I'm really using weird to describe this. The skin was consistent with that of a snake skin. I am not exaggerating. I could have made a wallet! I always savor the crispy chicken skin with the chicken itself but this was so bad I had to remove all the skin. Was I eating a snake???

The pulled pork was nice and soft. But where was the flavor?? Hey folks I'm far from a professional critic but seriously, where the hell was the flavor??? The best way to describe this is to take pulled pork, boil in water, add NOTHING, eat. Does this make sense? Thank baby jesus, the sauce was there to help.

The sausage. Um... hahahahahhahah! Boring boring boring. There is absolutely nothing special about this thing. Seriously, I'm short for words. It was bland. Oh yeah, good thing the bbq sauce was there to help (again).

Brisket - Uhhhhhh? Dry and bland WTF??

Pork ribs - Oh jeeebus, do I dare continue? These ribs were mediocre at best. Are they supposed to come out blackened? They were dry and meatless. Did they purchase the cheapest cut of pork ribs out there? I was so disappointed. I love LOVE pork ribs and this was the one thing I was looking forward to. I love nice thick, fatty ribs. These ribs look like they came off a pig that was suffering from bulimia. I hate lean ribs. The flavor was meh. Thank buddha for the sauce (again). Ugh I don't want to go any further I feel a tear coming to my eye.

Sides - We got the cream corn and potato salad. The cream corn was really good but again Rudy's is king. I like my cream corn thicker. The potato salad was good. Not the vinegary kind. It was ehhhhh.

Overall, this place has not much potential and the food just falls short and when we arrive we're the only customers. I guess that alone speaks for itself

There is no good BBQ in San Antonio. Hate to say it. I'm from Dallas and have had THE best BBQ ever, south Dallas style. Nowhere have I found it since and not even close in SA. Sorry to say. I've travelled alot and still find Dallas' the best. Yes, I've tried Rudys. The last place I'm going to spend my money is to try the place that's owned by the guys that own Tre Trattoria ( a great restaurant). Two brothers BBQ - I think that's what it's called. Too bad for Tx Brisket BBQ. My advice... get some new BBQ sauce - I couldn't even dip my dry brisket into anything to cover up. Everyone else here has said what needs to be said about the issues - and the ribs, well... try Dallas

Ahhh...WAAAH WAAAHH WAHHHH (sound of disappointment) and my quest for the best bbq in Texas continues.

The place is small....so small that you really have to watch for it or in the blink of an eye, bam! you drive right past it. We walked up to order and noticed right away that the prices are fantastic so I opted for the two meat plate with sausage and brisket. Being a southern girl, I love me some brisket, but I'm also extremely picky. In my opinion, even someone who wasn't so picky just wouldn't have been thrilled with this brisket. It was thick cut and extremely fatty. I was excited that my other half got the pork so I could steal some, but that too was really fatty and greasy. The sides excited me most because they offered up cream corn I'm still a fan of Rudy's cream corn....and the fact that there was hair in corn really turned me off and I lost what was left of my appetite, which blew because I needed something to get the taste of their spicy bbq sauce off my palette.

The sauce really disappointed. I Tried two, a regular or "signature" and a spicy. The regular sauce was way too sweet and the spicy was way to hot. I could feel my whole face burn even after I swallowed. The four of us sat at our table, saying nothing, but constantly sniffling and doing the "it's way too damn hot" inhale. Also, upon squeezing the sauce out of the bottle, there was more hair stuck in the nozzle of the squeeze bottle and from that moment forward I was done....

The sausage was good, not great and definitely not the best I've ever put in my mouth. The brisket wasn't even up there in top 10 and the creamed corn was obviously canned (c'mon now!). I don't even have to comment on the pot. salad...hair, need I say more? I wish I could have given this place more, but it just wasn't there and I honestly don't think it was anywhere close. I felt somewhat dirty there and was reminded several times why the prices are so great...because the bbq wasn't so great...

Well, all i can say is not very business like at all! Let me start by saying that i went threw the drive thru and ordered some ribs with the thought that the old bbq guy was there but i was WRONG! When i asked for him the girl at the window called another guy who was not the person i wanted to talk to this guy had glasses and talked alot kinda like snake oil sales man i think he introduced himself as Tony the owner. Any way he came out and told me that the place was now his and thaqt the other guy didnt pay his rent owed taxes and so on .... When he was done i turned to my friend who is a corporate lawyer and said " that was was very un-professional we didnt need to know that". I am thinking WHY would you say that about someone espically a business person saying crap like that, that was un-called for all i came for was ribs ! Mr Tony i can say this .... I will never go into your place again ! We used to buy lots of food here when the other folks were here and would have given you this business but the crap that came out of your mouth that will NEVERn happen.... Oh your ribs sucked aswell....

All of these "bbq" places use road kill, stray pets and rats for their meat. You don't know if you are eating fido, kitty or the flattened skunk you saw on the side of the road the day before. There is a good place owned by some darkies near Lackland Airforce base that is ok. At least they hide the taste of rat with spices and seasonings. Them black folk can make anything taste decent.

Thank you for your concession. I do appreciate that. Also, this topic came up in my "Bandera Forum" so its completely plausible that this place may not actually be in SA but in the SA area!

I like to try new, small, locally owned places instead of always going to the chains. So today a friend and I tried this. Everything looked nice and promising-- til we got the food!! I am 60 and this was without doubt the WORST brisket I have ever had in my life! To say it was like gnawing on strips of rubber would be an understatement. It was literally too tough to eat. We complained and they gave us some from a different brisket-so they said- which was the same. The sausage was slightly better. At least it was edible. The sides of cole slaw and sweet potato fries were edible. I brought the brisket home and am going to see if my dog wants it to gnaw on. How this place stays in business is beyond me. STAY AWAY!!

Agreed! Also McBees in Pleasanton. I have been to McBees locations in Hondo and Floresville also that were excellent, but it has been a good while, so not sure about now.
