Oh they are there. They avoid contact with people so no one ever sees them. A man lost a horse to lions several years ago somewhere off Bumpgate.

They sleep during the daylight hours and hunt at night. Very well could have been one.
I live in Pipe Creek and 10 years ago before we had animals we would see their tracks around a pond we have.
Once we moved in and brought in animals and my dogs I haven't seen them.
They are definitely there.

I am new to this and found this article very interesting. I live in kerr county. About 8 miles from Bandera (off Elm pass rd) I swear I saw one last Friday night at about 1130 at night. It was in my yard and my headlights just caught it. i could only see the top of it since the vegatation is 3 feet high. But this was Brown like a deer..and ran very fast...it didnt bounce up and down when it ran...so i know it wasnt a deer...again it was fast and very slick. It was also thick...thicker then a deer. I would say it was about 43 inches high...and 4 feet long. Now i just spoke to my neighbor bout an hour ago..and i told him. He says he saw one last night...crossing elm pass. And he seen it about a mile away from our houses. kinda scary if you ask me. has anyone else seen one recently????

They have been heard roaring at night in Lakewood Estates (off hwy 1283) during the month of June 2012. It is not the first time either. Mountain lions are indeed here. If you jog or walk don't don't do it when it is completely dark outside. If you see a cub don't go to it no matter how cute. Momma will probably be nearby and well you know the rest of the story. 99.9% of time they move away from humans. They are night hunters. But even so, they can be dangerous. If you run into one don't run just slowly walk backwards until you are at a safe distance. Running will trigger their hunt response. I do believe they were here first. So we learn to co-exist. Oh yeah, one other thing don't try the 'here kitty, kitty, bit.'

Yes. Almost hit it late one night last week. It was chasing a fawn across highway 16 between Bandera and Medina. No doubt. I went back and stopped and watched it chase the deer back and forth along fence line. Believe i saw the same one last night but i only caught glimpse so i could not say for a fact.(im just assuming it was probably same cat)

It was almost like it was playing with its food.
