One would think the city would do a better job and keep the bums and beggers away from the tourist who come here to spend their money. How do they expect for bussiness to set up shop there? How many more empty buildings with for lease signs until they get it? Also, the gangs are making themselves noticed in and around the riverwalk and the Alamo. I myself do not feel comfortable nor safe. I wonder how the tourist feel coming from outside the area?

I agree, living just outside of SA I think downtown is worse than any side of SA! When I hear people wanting to go visit SA and esp downtown- homeless, trash, and just plain ol' dirty comes to mind and I've seen it before. All you really have is the damn riverwalk and lil restaurants stores and trash everywhere. Really? tourist? I rather go to corpus instead..the smell of freedom-fish lol..jk but they have a beach and the coast living!

I happen to live downtown, what a mistake. It is so bad, filthy and bums and hoodlums everywhere. I am forever being harrased by the loosers for money, or " barrow" my phone. Daowntown is a breeding ground for crime and lots of it. If it wasn't for the very overratted riverwalk fir the touist downtown would fold up in a matter of days. No one wants to go there that lives here because of these problems. It could be so much better if the city would clean it up and get the bums and thugs out. Take a close look at the people that "roam" the downtown area, you would be hard pressed to get a full set of teeth out of the whole bunch. It is not just the homeless that are the problem, it's just about 90 percent of the people that are downtown.

Sorry for the typos, at the airport and was in a hurry. Glad to get away from downtown for a few days!

The city likes it because it generates more fines and keeps the bureaucracy busy.

The city wants all the white trash folks that visit downtown to feel at home. Even without the rows and rows of mobile homes. Yee-haw!

How does white trash afford to pay for the overpriced hotels? A vacation on the riverwalk for a family is not cheap. I am sure most leave very disappointed and will never return.

San antonio is a tourist trap. The idea is to hit you for all they can since they know you will never be back.

You are right. If I was a tourist and saw the condition of downtown I would not stay. There is nothing to do or see. What a waste of a vacation. It is funny how they talk up the "beautiful riverwalk." nothing beautiful about it.

Why don't you whiners and crybabies visit New Orleans, New York and see what a trap that is, you would never talk about SA being a dump, because I have been to many cities in America that are shyt holes...

Compared to what? San Antonio has no natural beauty or man made for that matter. What do you find beautiful about it? The sprawl of cement, shrub oaks, a dirty overcrowded canal downtown? Fast food on every street? Graffitti and trash along the streets? Obese people and just plain unattractive people? It's all about perception. Are you are comparing San Antonio to another cesspool city? It's like having a over weight person standing next to a very obese person to make them look good. What us beautiful about San Antonio? The lakes, mountIans and four seasons? Lol

That bad? I guess I won't be going to Lubbock anytime soon. It is all perception. Texas is not a great place to live period. Overcrowed cities , flat and hot.

I will check it out. Is it a good vacation spot? What's to do and see there?
