Murder in Pataskala

I went to school with the four kids from Pataskala. I was a dork, and Sonia would stick up for me in the hallways. She, Bobbby and I would smoke cigerettes outside in the "commons" everyday. Abbie helped me sneak out of school, whenever I would ditch. Jamie used to help me sneak boys INTO my best friend's traier.

Abby dated Bobby like a year before all of this happened. Sonia had a thing for Bobby, to, and I'm not sure if Abby was ever pregnant or not, but Sonia told Bobby that she was. Sonia told Bobby that Abby had had an abortion the previous school year, and that it had been Bobby's baby.

The day before they were all arrested, kid named Michale Leonardi was talking about the murders in English. He said that it had been Sonia, and I couldn't believe it. During lunch, I was talking smack about it, and Bobby overheard me. When Sonia came out for a smoke, Bobby told her what I had been saying.

Sonia got in my face, and said if she had killed Abby and Jamie, what would stop her from killing me? I laughed at her, and told her I KNEW she wasn't a murderer! Hearing about her arrest the next day really freaked me out!

I am pretty sure that this happened on homecoming night. After the dance, Bobby asked Abby to come over to his house, where Sonia and Robert were already waiting. Abby was scared to go by herself, so she asked Jamie to come.

The year before this, we lost member of the football team to a car accident. The next year, another girl from Watkins committed suicide, along with Mike Leonardi from my english class, and one of our special ed students died with heart complications. What should of been my senior year, four kids died - I'm not sure how.

I remember there was some drugs and some occult involved in it.as far as motive goes.the girls were going to tell on them for something terrible and they were killed before they could.so there is other crime unsolved.but at least 3 of them got put in prison.must have been pretty bad to kill people to protect this secret.hmmm..ya i would say there were more killings/sacrafices they were trying to cover up.look for missing persons ,animal killings around the area for that year and i bet you'll find the answer.

I remember when they were looking for Abby and Jamie. It was all anyone could talk about in school. I remember one particular day right before we found out that Bobby was involved. Bobby was in PE during the same period that I was and he just sat there and was very quite. We all thought he was upset because he had dated one of the girls.

Melissa.... I hate to tell you this but you this you did not hang out with Bobby and Sonia and smoke cigeretts in the "commons". First of all there really is no "commons" at Watkins. There is a small concrete patio area that had a totem pole. It was right off the main hall where everyone walked. Very rarely did people hang out there. Secondly, Sonia did not go to Watkins. She was from Whitehall.

The "special ed" kid as you called him did not die of heart complications. He was not even special ed. If you knew anything you would know that the guy you are referencing died from epilepsy. He was having close to 100 seizures a week and died in his sleep. He was not a popular kid because of his seizures but he at least deserves to be known as more than a "special ed kid"

So if you are going to make yourself look all special because you went to school and knew these kids then I suggest you do a little bit of homework.

I was a freshman at the time, but Abby and I used to hang out after school. I did not know a lot about her past, but I did know she ran away from home a lot and she was once pregnant. She told me she miscarried when she slipped on some ice the previous year. One thing she stated to me one day after school was she did not want to grow old. Abby said she did not want to live a long time, get gray, and physically unable to live life to the fullest. She stated this about a week or two before she was murdered. We laughed about it at the time, but I always wondered if she knew something was going to happen. The friday before the murder, Abby asked me to go out with her to the marching band party. She stated she would come and pick me up. I declined because I was staying with my cousins that night and I was afraid to get caught. I felt something was wrong and could not sleep. I remember looking at the clock and seeing 2:35am blinking on the VCR. I found out later that was the approximite time Abby and Jaimie were killed. Kind of creepy now that I look back on it. I really do miss Abby quite a bit.

I am just an outsider looking in...I went to Johnstown High School when this happened. I am 33 now...but I have to say, who are YOU to judge or minimulize someone's pain and experience??? YES, people that have seizures often die due to heart related issues!!! I do not know anyone in this situation personally, but to read your arrogant, and condescending comments...I mean, do you think >YOU< are special because you think you knew them better?? I mean, your comments regarding the "commons" and who smoked with who is SOOOO petty!! Are you still in high school??? Who are you to bash someone's own experience???

Why not come here and post something nice you remember about the victims?? NO, instead you choose to cause more pain in a painful situation...Watkins must have SUCKED!!! It's people like >YOU< that causes turmoil to begin with...shame on you!!

Wow... you did a great job of judging my character after reading just a small quote from me. When in fact you misunderstood what my point was. It wasn't to be petty it was to point out that a lot of what was said was not fact. I never said that people with seizures could not die from heart failure. I was pointing out that he died from epilepsy and that calling him the "special ed kid" was inappropriate. I never said I knew anyone better but I do know that some of the comments previously made are not true.

I did not bash the experience. I pointed out the untruth in the experience.

I also never said it was not a tragic thing that occurred. I was there and it was very tragic. All of the deaths were and I wish none of them had happened.

If pointing out that some comments were not fact is causing turmoil and is shameful. Then so be it but I would do it again.

As for Watkins sucking.... Yeah it did suck (at least my time there) for me because I was someone who was bullied and tormented by others because I was quite and did not get sucked into the groups. I would not say that the school itself stuck just my experience. So now I finally have a chance to point out how someone is feeding you some lies and once again the group is willing to take their word over mind. Oh well such is life.

1. well, you did a great job at exposing your own character. Don't blame me for how you come across:)

2. Yes, your point was VERY petty:)

3. There is NOTHING you wrote, that seems to be MORE reliable than Malissa...nothing, in fact, all you gave was OPINION...who are YOU to judge what is right and wrong??? I mean, you can't DIE from epilepsy...it is usually an underlying condition (like the heart) that can't withstand the epilepsy...understand??? So, for you to say he died from epilepsy and poo pooing the heart condition is the EPITOME of ignorance.

4. Why do you think calling someone "special" is bad??? I mean, from the sounds of it, he WAS special...in a GOOD way...no? It is YOU projecting negativity to that comment, yet when I read Malissa comment, it doesn't come off that way...only YOU try to spin it and take it out of context....that is PETTY!!!

5. Let me get this straight...causing maximum argument on a thread about two dead girls is NOT inappropriate, BUT, calling someone a special kid is??? NICE LOGIC!!

6. How do you KNOW "previously made comments are not true"...prove it??

7. I do not believe YOU...I think SHE is telling the truth....she made waaaaaay more sense than you...are you sure you're remembering it correctly?

8. If you were bullied in the past (and I'm very sorry you went through that) then maybe that's why you are doing this now??? I mean, you were bullied and NOW you bully??? Is that it??

Here are some examples of your post that seemed VERY petty and argumentative to me:
"Melissa.... I hate to tell you this but you this you did not hang out with Bobby and Sonia and smoke cigeretts in the "commons".
*How the hell would YOU know??

"First of all there really is no "commons" at Watkins. There is a small concrete patio area that had a totem pole."
*Ummmm, maybe this is what she meant by the "commons"...DUH!!! lol

"The "special ed" kid as you called him did not die of heart complications. "
* How do you know this, did you see his medical report and death certificate...seriously?? AGAIN, if feel you are merely being argumentative towards someones experience and pain:(

"He was not a popular kid because of his seizures but he at least deserves to be known as more than a "special ed kid""
* let me get this straight...you don't like him being referred to as "special ed" BUT, you are fine with documenting that he "was not popular"...WOW! AGAIN, did you come here to share experiences or to be argumentative??

"So if you are going to make yourself look all special because you went to school and knew these kids then I suggest you do a little bit of homework."
* now if this isn't petty and rude, then I do not know what is???!!!

Well Snow Bunny you said it all..... Thanks for opening my eyes and showing me the error of my ways. I am done arguing with you and trying to defend my comments. They obviously have caused you great turmoil and you obviously know more than I do.

I will remember things my way and that will be good enough for me. As they say there are always 3 sides to the story (your side, mine, and the truth). If I remember correctly from your other posts that you did not attend Watkins when this happened so I don't understand how you are such an expert but I guess you are and I will take it at that.

I understand that I don't express myself well in text and know that I was not out to be malicious or hateful.

Thanks for being so polite and friendly as you bashed me and my character.

So to everyone else who has or might read this forum I greatly apologize for any pain and suffering I may have caused with my comments. I truely did not mean to upset or bash anyone or their experience.

I was and am greatly saddened by the loss of the two girls murdered and the loss of my other classmates.

Three of my sisters were close to both Jamie and Abbey. We lived in the same trailer park as Jamie and she and my sisters walked and/or rode to school together every morning. Just a month before her tragic death, Abbey gave my mom a puppy she had rescued and I raised that dog from five weeks to 15 years old. She passed away August 21, 2009. Two of my sisters testified at the trial for Bobby Sheets. It was a horrible thing and it literally rocked my family to the core. The day before it was released that Jamie and Abbey were the bodies found in the barn I found out from Jamie's sister Amy. My mom had to come home early from work and find my sister at another girls funeral to break the news to her. We all were very disturbed by the fact that Bobby was included in that A&E documentary and even more so when he played the victim and whined about his life being over. He should have thought about that before he killed Abbey over stupid crap and Jamie just because she was there. I keep tabs on all four offenders and will be assisting in anyway I can to keep those animals behind bars. Sonya Hawkins comes up for parole I believe in 2017. She received the lightest sentence because she turned state evidence on all the others. I must say it warms my heart that Jamie and Abbey have not been forgotten after all these years.

Actually you were the one who had the misinformation...Sonya did attend Watkins...she was in my brothers graduating class, the class of 95 (obviously she did not graduate)...also the young man with the seizures was a special education student...my graduatig class...class of 97 (though I do agree this should not define him)and it also lacks significants to the murders...It was a completely different time period but none the less a loss. Additionally, there was an outdoor commons area at Watkins and it was traditionally the place where the "smokers" hung out...of course it wasn't advertised but everyone knew who and why people hung out in that area...I agree that your comments came off as really condesending and unnecessary...Sometimes it pays to be more understanding and to have your facts straight before "checking" someone else.

LMAO! That's the funniest thing I've seen yet! Didn't Jamie call your sister out on her lies in the middle of the lunch room? I seem to recall she went to school bragging about how she beat the tar out me when in actuality all she did was pull my hair swing me around while trying to fold me in half. She was the one who got her face pounded on. Jamie couldn't wait to come home and tell me all about the whole scene. Ruined Nikki's perfect school bully image didn't it. And here you are talking about how great they were and trying reconnect with Jamie's sister! What a joke! You were no better than your sister. You assaulted my mother when she tried to break it up and tried to rip her clothes off. Where ever Amy is I hope she never gets this message and if by chance she does. I hope she laughs as hard as I did. I'm sure she's probably already happily married to someone worthy of her. You're definitely not it pal.

I see lying is a family trait. There were hoards of witnesses to that blessed event. It was told to me by at least eight other people. Yes, you hung out with my sister Casey until that night in the trailer park. And this isn't Shannon you twit. I am the eldest. Apparently, you don't know how to read because it's hard to mistake that fact from my previous post. And your sister did exactly as I described. She pulled my hair, swung me around and tried to fold me in half. At no point did she beat the crap out of me because to do that you have to land punches and the only punches landed were by me. I landed several on the side of her face. I also was not saying anything when SHE came at me. I laughed at a comment my mother made. You might want to check the police record for your facts, YOUNG MAN. You and your sister went to the office first where NIKKI turned on the water works and claimed we jumped her. You might also note that she lied about her age to a cop, which you corrected her in front of said cop, in effort to have me arrested for assault on a minor. So, don't even go there. Your sister played the victim when it suited her. When my mother did finally talk to the land lords, they had already decided on their course of action or in this case inaction based on the information given to them by their daughter, Cindy who spoke with you two, the cops and my mother. So, wrong again little one! BTW. You might want to learn to read and write correctly before you post again. It took me twenty minutes and three read throughs to completely understand what bile you were spewing. Oh yeah, let's not forget there were nearly a dozen witnesses to the fight as well as the masses that witnessed the show down between Jamie and Nikki. Oh I almost forgot. Didn't she get expelled from Watkins shortly there after? I'll ask one of my sisters. They are definitely more reliable when it comes to factual information than you are.
