So in the discussion about trash moving in or out of pataskala two people mentioned that back when they were in Watkins around '95 that there were two murders of WMHS students by two other students and I was wondering if someone could eleborate. Some names perhaps? or any information you know on the subject. I'm just curious as to what happened and why so if anyone could help I';d really appreciate it. Thanks!

I remember when that happened.
Two girls from Watkins were lured out by some other kids, and two of the boys took them to a barn, and murdered them...a mother of one of the boys got involved and help bury the girls...it was EXTREMELY sad and very hard to believe.

I googled and googled, but I can't seem to find anything on the crime.
I was 17 when it happened, so it's been a while. I can't remember their names, but I do know the boys went to prison, and so did the mom, and they did recover the girls bodies.

This happened very close to family of mine.

Yes, if anyone can at least remember the girls names..that would help.

Now as an adult, I think of that crime, and MY daughters, and it makes me so very sad:(

yeah i actually a little more about it as well. My boyfriend went to school with them and his older brother dated one of the girls that was murdered. Apparently according to some info i found on the web and my bf they took these girls out to the barn and threw and beat them to death and then they heard one of the girls was still alive and moaning so they dropped a cinder block on their head. they burnt the barn down a few days later when the police started asking around for fear of getting caught.

:(I just got chills...the details you gave bring up so many memories.
Could you imagine being "thrown and beat" to death!!!???
Those girls were my age when that happened..I NOW have 4 children and 2 daughters..I can't imagine the pain the girls parents have been through all these years...very very very sad.

Why would these boys do this???
I couldn't find anything on the internet, because sadly, I can't remember the girls or killers names...this happened (in the barn) mere YARDS from my n laws property!!!

If ANYONE can remember these girls names, please let me know:(

Mom Helped Son, 2 Others After Killings, Police Say
October 12, 1994

LANCASTER, OHIO First, Elsie Sheets helped her teen-age son and his two friends get rid of the evidence connecting them to the killings of two schoolmates, police said. Then she made everybody a pizza. All four were charged Tuesday in the shooting deaths of Abby Marie Worrell and Jamie Kay Kelly, both 16. Their bodies were found last week in a burning barn. Sheets, 54, is charged with arson, obstructing justice and other charges. Robert Sheets Jr., 15, and Robert Daniel, 16, are charged with murder. Sonia Hawkins, 19, is charged with complicity to commit murder. Prosecutors have refused to discuss a motive for the slayings.

I knew both Abby and Jamie. Abby was a very good friend of mine and we shared spanish class with each other. I also knew Bobby and we shared health class together. Abby and I were pretty close and used to hang out after school together (prior to band and football practice). Jamie I had met a few times because of Abby, but I did not now here extremely well. It is hard to believe they have been dead for over 16 years.

One of the girls who was murdered (Jamie Kelly), I worked with her mom and was her manager. She is a very good friend of mine living in North Carolina now. And her mother just passed away so she was up
her for the funeral and we had lunch. She comes up to Jamie grave site every year on her birthday. It
is a very hard time for her.

I was at school when this happened, The details written here are wrong.
I spoke with a friend of mine earlier today who I went to school with at Watkins many years ago. She called to talk to me about Tina Herrmann (another Watkins Alumni) who was reported missing, w/her 2 children and her friend in Knox co.
We got into discussing this and she told me what she had heard, I knew it was wrong information. I decided to look up something-related to this topic-and came across this discussion.
I was very close to this case, and both of these girls.
Abby and Jamie were lured to the Sheets property. They were shot there and moved to the Barn.*The details here get really graphic so I will omit them* The barn was set on fire to cover up evidence.
Jerry. I am so sorry to hear about Jamie's Grandma.
I believe that year was the year Pataskala lost it's innocence. My family moved from there the following year, and we haven't been back.

Robbie Daniels was from Whitehall ohio. I used to date him right before this. I remember this story so well because he asked me back out the day he was arrested. I would have never in a million yrs thought someone I knew could do something so awful. I think back to the night it happened and he had asked me and a girl named Jenny nunamaker also from Whitehall to come "Hang out" Lucky for me, We stayed home to babysit her sisters kid. Unlucky for the 2 who was murdered however. I feel so bad for the family and friends of the victims. 2 sweet girls did not deserve this fate no matter what. I also know Robbies mother and sister was tore apart as well. Not only did he destroy the vistims family and friends life but his own family. May God be with them.

My sister was friends with Abby. It was a very scary time for everyone. I was in middle school and I remember everyone feeling uneasy that all this happened in our little town. I always loved Pataskala, so unfortunate that this kinda crap is happening all the time... and everywhere.

The names of the girls were Abby Marie Worrell and Jamie Kelly. The killers were Robert C. Sheets (Bobby Sheets), Robert Daniel, Sonya Hawkins and Elsie Sheets (Bobby's mom). The crimes occurred in Fairfield County and all those involved can be seen on the Ohio Dept of Corrections website. They all got 38 years to life except for Sonya Hawkins who helped lure the girls and provided the weapons. She got 16 years to life. Abby was an only daughter and lived my neighborhood. There was a documentary called Kids Behind Bars on A & E that featured Bobby Sheets entering adult prison as a 15 year old. The Columbus Dispatch has excerpts from the trials in their archives; you have to retrieve them from a public library; they are not on the web.

Very interesting! I don't know if you've seen the A&E special, but does it talk about his crime or Jamie and Abby? Or is it only based on him? I'm curious....I've seen that "kids behind bars" advertised before...but I haven't watched it...very interesting. Good post!

I hope it doesn't paint him as a victim of the system. What he did to Abby and Jamie is beyond words. Abby suffered tremendously before she died while Jamie's life was ended quickly. I have no sympathy for him and hope he thinks of what he did everyday. When he finishes his time, only then can I feel it is done. Till then though, he will have to lie in the bed that he has made. Even if that means he is someones "wife" in the pen.
