Everyone knows now, after the laws restricting purchasing peudoephedrine in the US, most of the meth in the US is imported from Mexico. It is not hard to deduce that because it is imported on large-scale basis then it will hit the big cities first. Eau Claire is low on the totem pole as far as demand is considered. The decrease in busts in Eau Claire is probably more attributed to the fact that local chemists have been shut down rather than the fact that there is less meth in the US right now. There is probably more meth in the US now because of the large scale imports, even after they have shut down most of the little 'mom&pop' labs in the country... and one thing is for sure, the money is more controlled now. This story should not be taken as an acknowledgment of success on the part of the local law enforcement of Eau Claire.

By shut-down, I mean effectively stopped because of restrictive laws, not actually caught by local law enforcement.
