hey i live in whittier too and their certainly is something up with turnbull canyon. Legend has it their WAS an insane asylum and their WAS satanic cult gatherings as of now i doubt it, but crazy things have happened to me and friends in turnbull, things i cant mention for fear of ghouls, ghost, and vampires coming to get me

That's crazy about 13yrs ago my ex boyfriend, my best friend and her boyfriend drove up there and pulled to the side of the rhode not near any known place but we just sat to look at the city and its lights and about 5 minutes of being there we heard thumping in the back of my car. I got freaked out and I was like dang what is that and the guys where going to check it out but I was like forget that I started the car and began to drive home. that was crazy.....

I believe Hells Gate would be closer to the Hacienda Heights end of the Canyon.

I don't think the gates of hell look like they do in that video anymore. I drove by with some friends a couple of months ago and there is was a chain link fence and gate in front of the gates shown in the videos on youtube. Good luck.

I have walked around the area mostly durning the day many times and nothing of real interest.

The most interesting thing that took place I have noticed is around last July one night me and my friend where going down back towards Whittier. The Whittier police did block off a lot of the roads up in that area. It was very interesting. Not a thing in the paper about it or on the news. I think I saw a little smoke as well. Likely a bursh fire but who knows.

hey a few weeks ago my sister, her bf, some friends, and me we went up there after we went out to dinner. I was maybe like 11:30ish at night. When we were driving up there I had this weird sensation. I was scared. So we got to the top of the hill where the big house Is at where you can see the lights at the city. We parked the car and we walked. We saw some guys but we didn't think much of them. So we keeped walking. Then I noticed lights somewhere down the hill. Then we all hid in the bushes we wanted to see what that was all about. What we saw was crazy. And chased us down the hill they were so close to us that we couldent see the road behind us. They chased us down all the way down throgh the Whittier side. They went next to our car. And they were telling us that we were going to "pay for it!!! " and they said they were going to kill us. Omg we were fresking out. Not the guys. The girls were. So they chased us all the way to the 605 freeway. We finally lost them. Omg. But things are supper weird up there and I know we saw something we weren't supposed to. Be carefull up there. Especially at night. And remember. Curiosity killed the cat.

Ok Ok Calm down.....This is the guy who cruised and 'felt' the same stuff in 1967-8.
An uneasy feeling that something wasn't right.
One night (and I still feel bad about this) We picked up a two hitchikers.....at that time there was no problem or danger hitching.....we did it to Huntington Beach all the time.
Anyway, we told these guys we needed to go over the canyon.
Pre planned, my friend faked like he had to take a piss....so he got out and we immediately jumped back in the car and ditched those guys up there.
We pulled this prank now and again when we picked up Whittier hitches. Pretty messed up and not funny now as I look back on it etc......just a ha ha trip back in '67. It was a pretty horrible place at night BUT never heard of any solid evidence that macabre shit happened up there.

i lieve in turnbull canyon and yeah a lot of things does go down there...the best time to there is at 2 a.m...thats when u see everything...trust me all this ppl go there doing some crazy shit...i seen one teens soul be taken from him and then the devil appeared...i seen another teen drink a dogs blood...

I was just driving in Turnbull Canyon earlier tonight with a friend. It was my second trip up there in search for "the gates of hell". I finally managed to find them. What sucks is that "the gates of hell" are now guarded by a chain linked fence covered in barbed wire. Beyond that, mounted to the two brick stands on either side of the gates are two big lights that shine down onto the road at night and two cameras just under the lights. Anyone who passes by the gates will be caught on camera, unless the cameras aren't actually hooked up and are only there to scare people to stay out. But, either way, whoever's in charge (I assume local law enforcement) really wants to keep people away from there. Makes me wonder why, though. If so many people claim to have gone up there already, what are they trying to hide? Anyways, other than the gates and very dark, narrow roads with some very tight turns, I don't really see anything special about the canyon. I did get some creepy vibes from the area, but I just assumed it was because of all the stories I have read about the place and it's dark past.

ok so my friends & i live in whittier too & we didnt really blv the crap everyone told us so we just decided to see for ourselves a couple nites ago..we passed by the "hangin tree" and we stopped to take pics but wen we stopped we heard noises on our cars like smne hitting it but there ws no one there so we kept driving..we went to see the gates of hell & they r wired now with signs & cameras but we just drove by though it did feel scary..ive heard many stories of wats behind there such as the old asylum that was burned down & since the kkk throws the bodies there but we were to chicken to go see it was midnite..so we kept going to see the kkk houses & such their lites r censored so becareful..then we tried to turn back but cudnt since the road becomes a 1 way road...u come across 3 paths & a weird car with its lights on & noone inside was blocking one so we took the other but everytime we took a diff road it wud take us bak to the same place..finally we got out of there & decided to c more..we went to thse bushes that ppl say if u put ur car on neutral smne pushes it into the bushes(story is a skool bus drove up there & crash & the kids were pushing the bus but ALL died)..we didnt stop tho..we heard sirens as we drove near a fire station but there was NOONE there or firetrucks near by at all..except this man standing in the niddle of the road staring...CREEPY!!! we left but that was a trip ill never forget
