Just ask how much the superintendent, assistant superintendent, or yet any of the people at BPUSD human resources how much get paid and they direct you to their salary schedule via their website. This schedule does not give you the amount each person gets paid, but if you request this information (and they approve to give it to you) they will email it to you. Yeah right! You have people in HR making six figure salaries. People in HR that have no education; no degree, NOTHING, and are getting paid more than a teacher (someone who went to school, has a degree, and teaches our kids, our future) Ask how much a clerk in HR gets paid and you'll find out that they make about a little less than a teacher. This is with a clerk having no degree vs. a teacher that has her (B.A and M.A) Go figure. The problem isn't with the government cutting back on education. The problem is with how te school districts are budgeting their money. When you have a secretary, with no education, making almost the same amount as a teacher...well...there's your problem. An investigation needs to be done about who is getting paid what.
It just doesn't make sense for the test scores to go up and the ones being punished are the teachers? Yet, the people in HR are getting promoted and due to their promotion they are getting pay increases? No way! This is the problem with school districts and the reason why charter schools work out so nicely. Someone needs to put Cynthia Cuevas on the spot and ask her to take a pay cut. Ask the people in HR to take a pay cut. The question at hand is: are the positions worth the amount they are getting paid? A personnel technician is getting paid close to the same amount as a teacher? Why do schools then encourage you to go to school? To graduate with a masters only to be making the same amount as someone with a high school diploma? Several positions at BPUSD in which promotions were given to were not posted so others (with education) can apply. Let's give opportunities to those that went to school, that have degrees. You get paid big money, have something to show why you get paid that amount. Compared to other school districts BPUSD gets lots of money from our government, money that is being mismanaged. The teachers should NOT be punished but applauded. Empty house within HR; there is where you're money is at

Having a degree doesn't make you any better or smarter than anybody else. Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerger, Steven Spielberg, Steve Jobs, Richard Brason just to name a few are examples who don't have college degrees. Classified staff work just as hard as teachers. If you want to judge people by their education, maybe we should start with the dumb ass parents who don't have an education cause ignorance starts in the home.

Really? There are plenty of schools that are not laying off teachers. Last time I checked, tax money does not go towards the salary of Bill Gates. Ps. I think you meant Richard Branson.

Ignorance starts at home? Apparently ignorance starts with you! I happen to be a BPUSD parent. I have a Ph.d. I couldn't agree more than with Ms. Galvan. Our tax dollars pay these idiots at the district office. They are not responsible for a test score increase, the teachers are. It is because of the teachers that these kids are excelling. The San Gabriel Tribune recently wrote an article on the corruption that occurs within Baldwin Park. There are plenty of schools, within LA County, not laying off teachers because they know how to manage money. Get a clue, get an education, or perhaps learn how to use Google because all this information is easily accessible. Educate YOURSELF before you go flapping your gums.

Really, how about your gardener or the car wash guy that works even harder? Maybe they can also claim to get paid at par with everybody else!

The fact is that the school districts have always been protective of their district employees at the expense of the teachers. The statistics show that almost all of the highly paid employees are in the district office, and not the teachers. Majority of the teachers' salaries are on freeze for the last so many years and its the teachers that have been facing the major brunt of layoffs.

Lupe Palacios was caught stealing at Malibar school before she became a secretary at BPUSd. Dolores Orona thinks she's all that because Mike Orona hires his family first. Corruption galore especially new Froilan Mendoza fake degree from the Philippines and pays school board to defend and protect him.

And a Superintendent with fake degrees bought in the Philippines hiring all filipino staff when firing long time district employees. Replacing them with his family. Alll Filipinos. Earning huge salaries.
