It has been a realization that if you are born in Mexico, your alliance is first is to Mexico, and than to United States of America. That has been true with City of Los Angeles Councilman Jose Huizar. His support for illegal food vendors is evidence of his support to a culture from Mexico, and not the USA. Huizar was also born in Mexico and grew up in Boyle Heights, and has not accepted USA as his country. I hope that Rubio has a different outlook, and has adopted the way of the American Dream. She will always have the alliance to Mexico, as that is her birth country, as the rest of us do too.

As it looks right now tuttle is a write in from what I hear. But Pachecco is my vote...Why???CHANGE we need new blood I have been on the inside of the city and saw ALOT of stuff. From the CEO acting like he is better to everone else.To wasteful spending.1 example Director taking his CITY CAR home.THATS MY MONEY IN THAT GAS TANK.He should drive his own car to and from work and use the city car to go to work sites.Sick and tierd of cutting corners.2 extended lunches.Higher ups for brithdays some upto 4 hrs..You know that little b-day lunch party on city time AND GETTING PAYED for that time.Yes its true. And other things you would never belive.I have a 7pm appt with pachecco to go over some topix.Lets see what he has to say.

No Way...you're an idiot. Pacheco is part of the Council that approved the agreement with the City Director. The car he uses was part of the agreement. I also personally know Pacheco and realize that he's a giant douchebag who's only interested in himself. I agree that city workers often extend their lunch hours for birthday celebrations, but what the hell is Pacheco going to do about it? Nothing,'cause it's not a priority. That kind of stuff always has and always will continue to happen. By the way, take some spelling and grammar classes at the BP Adult School,'cause you certainly need them!

Tuttle? Are you kidding me?

I'm not saying that whatever gripes you have with Lozano aren't valid (although, to be fair, you haven't exactly outlined any), BUT, that shouldn't be a reason to vote for one of the clearly inferior challengers, i.e. Tuttle or Lozano.

Use your head.

How you vote is, of course, your own perogative. You can vote for someone because you like their hair, or b/c you like the way their name sounds. That's up to you.

I'm just asking for rationale discourse. Why would you vote for Pacheco? Do you even know his record?

The Trib article gives credit to Lozano and Garcia for tough negotiations with the police department over the raised during the economic downturn.

Wasn't it Councilman Bejarano who held that line? Wasn't that one of the sources of contention (that the Trib) pointed out after his detainment by the police? Making a reference to a possible retaliation and singling out of Mr Bejarano because he had led the city on the police pay issue?

Seems they don't want to give credit where credit is due. Its ok not to endorse him but be fair and consistent with the facts.

Im curious why you think BP needs a new Mayor? What is the central issue to you believing that the core leadership that is currently running the city won't be effective in the future? Especially facing the economic crisis that is rippling all across the state, isn't proven leadership a valuable asset to small cities?

Mayor Lozano, Councilwoman Garcia and Councilman Bejarano have worked cooperatively on many issues. In fact two of the major ones that the Trib gives credit to Lozano and Garcia (the union negotiations and police pay issue) were actually led by Mr Bejarano. If you go back and listen to audio and read minutes of the council meetings you will see that it is Mr Bejarano that (at times took the publically unpopular but civically necessary) hard stance to protect the city's budget.

How do you know when a Rubio is lying? Her lips are moving.

Principal? Really, I wonder how the ACTUAL principal at the school she works at feels about her taking that title:

http://www.monroviaschools.net/15992032219305...

Rubio, like her sister, is an opportunistic political ladder climber. She has no experience, she has no new ideas, and she changes positions when it is politically convenient for her.

And to the Tribune editors, how are you going to clap for Lozano for standing up to the POA--and in the same breath support their puppet Rubio?

Well, I won't argue with you regarding needing a new mayor. Personally, I think Lozano has done a decent job, and he definitely is always out in the community.

My bigger point is a "out of the frying pan into the fire" one. In other words, Pacheco and Tuttle are SO bad, that no matter what you think about Lozano, you should either vote for him--or don't vote at all on the Mayor race.

Wow. I wonder what would motivate Ms Rubio to lie about her employment? Its such an easily verifiable fact.

Here at my company we've had a few people doctor and pad their resumes with education background usually. We fire them outright because the prevailing thought is if you'll lie about basic facts about yourself and background that you're not trustworthy and reliable.

I wonder if Ms Rubio will respond to the obvious discrepency. Its not just a reporting error right? I mean she's claimed she's a principal in her printed materials right?

Yes,But if I dont vote then I really dont have a voice on the issue.I sent a email to both Lozano and Pacheco.Only one yet to reply was Pacheco asking me to call him.I think I just might. So if you all have any questions let me know and I will post his answers.

1) What has he done to ensure that the City's budget remains balanced. What is his opinion on using reserves to balance a budget.

2) One word response from him: For or against redeveloping the downtown into an urban village.

3) Why did he refuse to undertake his legal obligations, as a supervisor, to participate in the investigation regarding his alleged harassment of an employeee.

4) If he was against the Bisno project, why did he accept $5,000.00 in campaign contributions from Bisno development.

5) What was his role in the South Gate scandal?

6) Why did he support giving the Police Officers Union a 20% increase in pay, when the budget couldn't support such a raise.

7) Why does he support bringing in Superior Market when the market does not allow it's employees to unionize?

8) What has he done to promote "Smart Growth" priniples in Baldiwn Park.

Those are very good questions Mr Voter. Mr Temecula, if its not too much trouble, after your phone convo with Mr Pacheco if you could recap that here it would be of great service. Gracias.

I was wondering if anyone received the mailer where Ms Rubio states she is the retired city clerk? Maybe the council meetings don't hold her full attention but isn't she the current sitting city clerk? She embellished her employment status at her school district job and dimishes the one she does as an elected official. What gives?

The word on the street is that Rubio will do anything and anybody to further her political career.
