Im 15 and have been visiting freeport for the enitre summer since time began for me. I myself always felt comfortable and safe in Freeport and have gained many friends in the area over the years(all not taking part in the gang scene). From my years of visiting and from what my friends have told me their is a gang problem within the school and within the neighboring village of Roosevelt, though im not as old as the gentleman above, i can vouche that the neighborhood has become greatly more hispanic just within the past 5 years( which isnt really a concern of mine), but wat many of the people who are posting dont realize freeport is the second largest village in the state of New York(which would almost automatically have it gain a rep. about crime, but would look disproportionate with its smaller neighboring villages). As for your son, i think he would do fine, as long as you screw his head on tight. I can tell you personally ive been in schools in afluent areas and of poorer areas and one thing does not change: the sex, the drugs, and the rock&roll. I myself wouldnt trade a day in the plethora summers i have spent in Freeport for anything. Freeport is a beautiful village, a village that has seen better days.
