I didn't know the Baltimore County Animal Shelter had a cat specialist? How interesting, what exactly is a cat specialist?
If BCAS would provide a low cost spay/neuter clinic for cats maybe less cats would eventually end up there, besides it's the law that cats in addition to dogs be licensed in Baltimore County, a clinic could prevent further unwanted cat populations and licensing could be done at the same time.
What about all the adoptable dogs that rescues can't take, after four days there are killed. And as for pit bulls, even babies, or pit mixes, their fates are sealed the moment they arrive in that shelter, four days later they are killed. What efforts are staff and management making to ensure their lives are given a second chance? Doesn't the BCAS shelter not only cats but dogs TOO? No effort is made by management to provide any type of outreach program to help adoptable dogs get homes. It's just a warehouse for animals, essentially it's the pound.

If you took the time to come out to the shelter and talk to us you would find out that we work with a large amout of rescue groups and with other local shelters not only for cats but dogs too.

I'm talking about the pitbull/pit mixes. Do they even have a chance if they are nice dogs? I mean from adults to puppies, does anyone even want to care about finding them a safe way out of the shelter? Many shelters are adopting pit/pit mixes, what's Baltimore County's problem that they still put them to sleep?
