don't worry, we got it. considering he really can't see, it would be funny if he tried and accidentally took out one of these other jokers. really, it hardly matters which one, they are all about the same.

Since when did NYS Gov't worried about what is constitutional?!?!? As we all know, they are fighting over who gets to control the sandbox after school.

Another thing, why would paterson appoint Rat-vich? I beleive its to get back at the republicans to squash their efforts to repeal the MTA Tax on businesses!

This guy is blindly leading our state down a dark path.

Funny how the state didnt need a lieutenant governor when the democrats had a majority... Sneaky Dave trying to regain control.

Can we avoid situations like this in the future and make sure we vote this moron out and get a Republican in.

I think it should be illegal for a politician to change parties while in office....they are voted in under a certain party by the people.....they should be held to the party they are voted in under until the next election at which time they may choose to run under a different party for the people to once again decide on if they want that politician to hold office under the new party. My guess is that the people who voted that politician into office would not have done so if they were running under a different party line! I think that all voters are being betrayed by a politician who changes his party line and his promises to the voters, while in office, without the voters having any say in the matter.

it's not that a senator shouldn't be able to change parities. This bozo didn't change parties. he's just voting for the republican side. he's still a democrate.
What should be made illegal is that a single billionair who caused this whole thing to happen in the 1st place. this one person had enough power to freeze the state senate. I want to know who it was and what he paid to have the 2 democrates change.
What should be illegal is having a vote on leadership in mid-term. this vote should be made only once in a term. and right after they are sworn in. that would prevent this from happening again.

PATERSON IS INEPT.

If he had the authority to appoint a Lt. Governor, why didn't he do it a year ago when he succeeded Spitzer.

Clearly, he knows he has no such authority.

He is inept and playing politics with New Yorkers when the GOP Senators are seeking to protect taxpayers!

I hope they deadlock for the next ten years and do nothing. Absolutely nothing!

Governor Paterson’s lame attempt to appoint a lieutenant governor is clearly unconstitutional. The legislature cannot pass a law which contradicts the state’s constitution. The constitution already has provisions for the devolution of power when there is a vacancy in the the lieutenant governor position. To wit:“In case of vacancy in the office of lieutenant-governor alone, or if the lieutenant-governor shall be impeached, absent from the state or otherwise unable to discharge the duties of office, the temporary president of the senate shall perform all the duties of lieutenant- governor during such vacancy or inability.” The fact that the temporary president position is in dispute does not give the governor license to override the constitution. Since the legislature also cannot pass laws which contradict the constitution, clearly their intent in the public officer’s law was for positions other than those not enumerated in the constitution. In any case, section 43 of POL states: "If a vacancy shall occur, otherwise than by expiration of term, with no provision of law for filling the same..." There is a provision of law for filling the vacancy: The New York State Constitution. Case closed.

Why would you want to vote a "Repugnant-can" into office. Skelos and his boys are the ones that caused all this mess when they overthrew the NYS government.

The problem with that is that people are not looking at the record of the person. Instead they are voting for the party, not the politician's qualifications. If you look at the qualifications, it wouldn't matter what party he/she is running under. As a result, by voting party line only, you get a bunch of idiots in office.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Aries

There's a lot of tension in the air, with certain people poised to spit the dummy, as Mars turns retrograde in your fifth house of romance, children and speculation. Confrontations are likely. If these are nothing to do with you and you just happen to be directly in the firing line, your best bet is to make yourself scarce. But if you are responsible for their outraged feelings then you need to face the music, otherwise things will only get worse.
