all of you have forgot what the issue is here the threatened lively hood of the only industry that that generates revenues is the natural recourse industry so if Oregon is disgusting has a problem with us they can stay in Canada and stay out of heaven. i say kinda compensated because the compensation will not cover the actual cost of any replacement ewe lambs or will they be compensated for the loss of weight gain caused by the continual stress of the animals

Our country side was not meant to be taken over by sheep and cattle grazing on our land. If it is YOUR private land,you need to be compensated by the hour,the loss of the animal and loss of weight throughout the herd. Although,I agree that a balance of sheep,cattle and natural predators should exist. Wolves were here LONG before cattle and sheep were and look what happened when ranchers were allowed to kill them. They all but vanished. Like I said.....you should be compensated for ALL losses. Lost weight,companionship(????) whatever. There's always gonna be sheep. I just wish someday, someone,some where would give the animals that were here before us a break. It's now legal to kill wolves so fire away.

it is actual still illegal to kill wolves in Oregon because they are protected under the Oregon ESA the state population has to have 3 recorded breeding pairs for three years before wolves can be considered for state delisting. three breeding pairs equates to about 35-45 wolves because there is one breeding per 1.5 packs and a pack is 7-12 wolves. after they are delisted from the state ESA they are still classified ans a non predator animal until there are no less that 7 recorded breeding pairs and then it is time to revisit the laws to see of they are then classified as a predator in the state of Oregon

the thing tat bothers me the most is that an animal has more right that a human. if a burglar was steeling your stuff and was armed and you caught them in the act you could get away with killing them in self defense but a rancher that has livestock(aka his stuff and lively hood) finds a wolf robbing his stuff and kills it he will have a severe jail sentence and be fined 100,000 for the action.

I may be an Oregonian but that doesn't mean that I hate wolves. Rather I love them and anybody who is so little minded that they think that wolves shouldn't be back in Oregon should take a step back and let the wolves do their job.
